Someone mentioned the artist who self-administered "paint enemas" then
"squirted" the paint onto his canvases. An issue of ArtForumNewsinAmerica
published a photo of the fellow this past spring, (for those of you
especially curious, I'm sure it was either Art News or Art in America). It
is an interesting report, (I hesitate to call it a review), which showed a
picture of the artist actually "squirting." There he is, propped up in the
corner of his studio, naked, with legs spread, "painting"!!!! According
to the article he was working on "Purple Squirt" when the photo was taken.

I find the reportage of the process to be interesting. In all other cases
the journals show the finished work of the artist, and it is only in
lengthy articles that the journals show the artist in his/her studio. They
are ordinarily dressed for lunch, and never actually working. This must
have been a rare occasion in which the artist's process was so important
that the finished work was of lesser value to the story, and it was
necessary to show the artist at work!

The fellow's name was Keith Boadwee, and he shares with the journal's
sensationalism my nomination for the stupidest gimmick for artists.

Jeez, I'll bet the rush to libraries is overwhelming their resources as folks
swarm to find this particular image / article.
