She was a costume designer for Zeigfeld Follies and Broadway shows in the
30's and 40's. I have many of her signed designs - and some of her own
original paintings, and one painted by her mother which is even older.
The painting I'm talking about here - approx. 24 x 20 - framed in a
beautiful old frame - is a painting with the same flair of impressionist
painters - It is set in France - in a city with buildings at least four to
seven stories high, and trees, and a horse drawn carriage in the
background. In the forground is an old man, top hat, in a jaunty pose
leaning against a gas light, eyeing the very attractive woman, with a large
hat box and fancy umbrella - a French policemen is nearby.
It is unsigned, but there is a name written on a storefront that reads
JAROLN - I have no idea what this stands for.
My friend never told me if this painting was just a copy or what. But I am
interested in getting some information on it if its available.
Please let me know if you have any idea where I can contact someone to learn
more about this painting.
thanks - Perila
