Let's talk about your painting called "Cow Musing." This is
not a good painting, in my opinion. Even making allowances for the
intention of the artist to express himself either abstractly or
realistically. The face of the cow is flat and lacks ANY kind of
character, or even "cowness" First, either the cow is too small
or the milk maid is too big. The size relationships are wrong. But the
thing which is TOTALLY wrong is the muscle structure of the cow. Yes,
the rear legs and thighs of this animal or almost any animal I can
think of has strong muscle structure in the rear legs, hips and thighs.
It's probably a survival characteristic they developed over
millennia, which allows them to escape predators by fleeing, (and /or
kicking.) But that muscle structure does NOT go up to the spine, cross
over it and then go down the other side. Which is what you have shown
here. It strongly suggests the work of a child or of someone unfamiliar
with barn yard basics who has never been up close and personal with a
REAL cow.

If I saw this painting hanging on the wall of a grammar school
I'd say OK. The teacher needs something to occupy her students so
that she can dash out to the loo or grab a smoke or a cuppa coffee. And
no one wold fault her for that. But presenting this painting for sale
to the public suggests a triumph of wishful thinking over the ordinary
artistic common sense most of us are born with. Sorry. It's just not
good enough, in my opinion. Back to the drawing board, please.

Regards. Bill.
