ABOUT LEV "LJOVA" ZHURBIN:
Lev Zhurbin (a.k.a. Ljova) was born in Moscow, Russia and grew up in New
York City. The son of the celebrated Russian composer and producer
Alexander Zhurbin, and poet Irena Ginzburg, Lev began his musical training
at the age of four with the violin, studying with Galina Turchaninova (who
also taught Maxim Vengerov among others). He later continued his studies
with Emanuel Vardi and Karen Ritscheat at the Preparatory Division of the
Manhattan School of Music and at the Juilliard School with violist and
composer Samuel Rhodes. He has also studied composition with Bruce
Adolphe, Christopher Vassiliades, Tom Cipullo and Alexander Yagupsky.

During his Juilliard years, Lev had the opportunity to perform with the
Orchestra of St. Luke's; The Wild Ginger Philharmonic, the
critically-acclaimed young orchestra; and recorded with the Electric Light
Orchestra. An avid performer of contemporary music, Lev has premiered
many works with the Absolute Ensemble, The New Juilliard Ensemble, as well
as the Orchestra of the SEM Ensemble.

Shortly before graduating from Juilliard, Lev became very involved with
many diverse projects involving music and collaboration on the Internet,
as well as several film and theatre projects. The resulting projects have
yielded an extensive archive of extremely diverse content, which may be
accessed freely via the web at www.Ljova.com.

ABOUT ANGEL ORENSANZ:
Angel Orensanz is a New York based artist born in Spain and educated in
Barcelona and Paris. From his studio in New York he presently carries out
art projects in many countries, and his work includes different formats
and materials. During 1999 and parts of 2000 he has developed a long term
project consisting of sculpture, painting and performance called the
"Shattered Tent." He started in Strasbourg, France, in front of the
European Parliament to protest the mass dislocations and subsequent
bombing of Kosovo, and brought this concept during the various stages of
the war to Geneva, Brussels and the UN headquarters in New York. In
December 1999, he was invited to participate in the Biennale of
Contemporary Art in Florence, where he presented a large collection of his
bronze pieces and transformed a public bus into a public sculpture
work. In January and February of 2000, Orensanz presented a
sculpture/performance in front of the Russian Embassy in Paris. He was
awarded the Grad Prize Lorenzo il Magnifico of the City of Florence. Over
the last twenty years, Angel Orensanz has developed major art
installations of sculpture and nature in urban spaces such as Holland Park
in London; Roppongi Park in Tokyo; Red Square in Moscow, the banks of the
River Oder-Nasse in Germany and The Pyrenees in Northern Spain. Angel
Orensanz's work has been displayed at the Musee de Luxemburg in Paris; the
Hara Museum in Tokyo; the Alte Museum in Berlin, and the film department
of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Angel Orensanz saved from demolition the oldest synagogue in New York
City, making it into one of the most active and vibrant arts centers in
the US. Exhibitions, concerts, plays, opera, dance festivals, creative
fashion shows and lectures are regularly scheduled at this cultural space,
to which close to 400,000 people have been attracted over the last 15
years.
