Hello!

I am looking for a place to get quality watercolor supplies at a
reasonable price, either mail order or in the Virginia/DC area.

I am particularly looking for:

* Windsor Newton or other artist quality water color paint tubes
* Strathmore or Grumbacher water color sheets
* quality brushes

Any suggestions?

If you participate in Arts & Craft Shows as an exhibitor and would like to

place, in FLORIDA, then our guide to the shows... "WHERE THE SHOWS ARE

In article <410bne$h...@access2.digex.net>, j...@access2.digex.net says...

Napa Valley Art Store 1-800-648-6696

They specialize in watercolor supplies. You
want d'Arches paper. Holbein beats W&N for
colors.

Try the Daniel Smith mail order catalog, 4150 First Avenue South, P.O. Box
84268, Seattle, WA 98124-5568, phone 1-800-426-6740. Reliable and a very
large selection.

There is a place on Telegraph Road in Alexandria....I think it's call
Discount Art Supplies or Discount Arts and Crafts....if that's not the
name....it's very easy to find.

It's at the corner where I-95 and Telegraph Road cross....you can't miss
it! Prices are great and the selection is good. It's a bit unorganized,
so be prepared to spend some time looking for what you want. The sales
people seem to know where everything is...

Enjoy!

2 great sources for watercolor supplies mail order are:

Napa Valley Art Store 800-648-6696

Daniel Smith 800-426-7923

Both have great service and good prices. Napa is primarily for water
colorists but doesn't have as much selection of paper as Daniel Smith.
Daniel Smith has their new H20 color paints which are of excellent
quality..I've tried some and like them. Get their catalogs.

Cheap Joe's Mail Order usually beats the competition. Check for specials
and numbers in national artists' magazines.
Cheap Joe's line of brushes are great/inexpensive. Used by many
professional watercolorists in Oregon!
Check the Wilcox Guide (bookstores) for a comparison of quality of
paints. Da Vinci paints good, and very cheap (check quanties)

It's called Pearl Arts and Crafts. There's also Visual Systems in Md, DC
and VA, all are in the phone book.
