I've been trying to get the toll free number for Ott's Artist Supply. It is a
mail order company. Do you have this 800 number, or any other mail order supplier
from whom you've done business with and enjoy? Any assistance will be greatly
appreciated.

If you are looking for a specific item it may be worthwhile comparing
prices, the place with the best price on Windsor and Newton oils may
charge more for pastels.

Here are a few to choose from:
Art Supply Warehouse 1-800-995-6778
Jerry's 1-899-U-ARTIST

Daniel Smith 1-800-426-6740 (Seattle)
Smiths emphasizes house brands, I rather like their brushes, the
prices here are not the lowest.

Pearl Paint 1-800-451-pearl (NYC)
This place was a pilgrimage for me when I lived in New York. I have
found the staff very knowledgable. Since I have switched to using
Sennelier and Old Holland oil paints I have not found any other mail
order company that carries these paints. I think they have the largest
selection and good prices.

I used to be able to get seconds of primed linen for about $10/yard.
Does anyone know of a mail order catalog that carries deals like this?

As regards Daniel Smith, the current issue of Washington Free Press
contains an article about the recent union drive there and union-busting
activity by the company.

this is fairly troubling to me, since I do shop at DS often. <sigh>

At any rate, those of you who are union supporters may wish to check out
the situation before deciding whether to give DS your business.

Do research and make your own decision on the matter. And if you decide
not to patronize DS, make sure you tell them why!
