New Realism

When I was in college there was a school of art being discussed known as "New Realism".  Does anyone know if that is still a proper grouping for art work?  My work is not photorealism, yet it has a modern look.  I refer to it as New Realism but I never see this term elsewhere.  Perhaps it never caught on.  Realism is such a broad term it seems like there should be some sub-groups for it.

The genre is still around. I think it started with Estes who is now with
Marlborough Gallery and doing well. Him and Pearlstein, who is still painting
also.

If you are in NYC, check out Allan Stone, Meisel and Gallery Hennock. They all
have a number of New Realist or Photo Realist in their stable of artists.

Villeglé. Piérre Restany founded these group in Paris. Some
people mean that N.R. is the French pop art. Clear is, it had
its roots in the movement dada.

The Sidney Janis Gallery (New York) used the term "New Realism"
for the exhibition in the sixties. The catalogue on this
exhibition is a legendary collector item today.
