If you have no good results with oil pastels, why use them. Use oil paints,
casein, acrylics, water color, crayons, or something. I think oil pastels are
the most difficult medium to use. Name one important artist outside of Dr.

Atl in Mexico (who first invented oil paint in sticks).

Oil paint is ultimately the most versatile medium in painting.

I've had excellent results with oil pastels
First of all realize what type of work you want to do
I found that they are ideal when creating works on paper
they can be blended quite nicely using your finger or a cloth
I've also received great effects by painting washes over them.

That's one doctor to avoid.
