I have a portrait painting on glass, it is thought to be between 80 & 100
yrs old, it is signed either I Kleinschmidt or J Kleinschmidt, anyone know

I can give you a hint. Just before WWI the "Blue Rider" group of German
Expressionists painted on glass. One of their members, Gabriela Munter, who
was a Bavarian, taught Kandinsky and Marc and the others a Bavarian tradition
of glass painting. It looks to me that your portrait comes out of this
tradition, so I would start looking there -- i.e. "Bavarian Glass Painting."
My guess is that examples of this would be very collectible -- the kind of
stuff that's perfect for "The Antique Roadshow."

your site by trying to find the name of another unknown
artist. I have a painting entitled "West Coast of Ireland"
painted in 1923. Do you know where I might find the name

The painter was Johannes Kleinschmidt, born 22.03.1958 in
Niederappenfeld near Homburg/Hessen in Germany and died
23.12.1905 in Rheinhausen near Göttingen. Kleinschmidt painted
portraits.
