I did. Your paintings are not very good. What else do you do?

I think they are extraordinarily ORDINARY and show
lack of art training in the design and handling.
I get the distinct impression that for lack of
rendering skills you have resorted to calling
your work "abstract" -- which it is but it also
is very naive. But that having been said, HANG
IN THERE and study LOTS MORE ART and ABOUT ART.
And your resume is much too self-assuming and
very juvenile in its quoting of GPAs in school. No
matter how proud you are of your school record it
has no place in an art resumé. Your resumé should
reflect your art education/experience only, IMO.

Contrary to my colleague's opinions, I rather like your paintings, Sally. The
brushwork is fun and engaging. I also liked the landscape quality of some of
your still lifes, as well as the resolution of the image with viewer distance
(which is discernable by the thumbnail version and the close-up, as if we were
moving back from the painting).

Studying art? Of course, we all need to do this regardless of our
accomplishment. Keep up the good work and thanks for the peek.

I agree. I like the concept and her efforts to translate her technical
training into art. Some are more successful than others, but isn't that true
with most artists?

I also agree. There are some very nice paintings on your site. And, yes, it is
important to keep doing what you love, and to study (whether formally or by
yourself). I find it helpful to do a lot of "looking". I think artists tend to
see things differently. There are a few pieces on your site that especially
express your gift for seeing things differently.

Thanks for sharing.

One small suggestion (mind you, it's only a suggestion), is that on your
artist's statement page, it may be a good idea to pull in the margins a bit. (I
mean, add to the margins on the sides.) That way, the reader doesn't feel like
there are huge amounts of text across the entire screen to read. This is meant
to be helpful, not to criticize.

Best wishes.

Hi, Nita. Good to see you here. How have you been. These days, most of my work
are in my studio! Even my web page is grossly outdated. When I update it I will
give you a holler. How is your work coming along?

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to visit my web site and
offer comments. Some of you have inquired about my studying art. I am
currently studying art on my own by reading, going to museums and shows, and
by painting as much as possible. I enjoyed your honesty, constructive
criticism, and compliments.

I attended an exhibit and lecture today by painter David Reed at the Wexner
Center here in Columbus, OH. I will post comments on that tomorrow.

Bye for now,

JC
