HeART Beat "Site of the Week", which will feature the best new art
galleries, museums and art-related resources as they become available on
the Web. Each entry will be briefly reviewed, and then archived for

>[So where is the review? Which is the site of the week? I found a pretty good collection of links, but no particular indication of =
what was where- is this something that you are about to start, but haven't yet? A good idea, anyway, I would like to see more review=

The HeART Beat "Site of the Week" is Xplore Arts located at:
<URL:http://www.xplore.com/xplore500/medium/arts.html>
I purposely selected Xplore Arts as the premiere Site of the Week because
it is an excellent guide to art resources on the Web - which is explained
in the brief review.
Future "Sites of the Week" may include individual galleries, museums and
collections by independent artists. However, the HeART Beat "Site of the
Week" is not intended to be a vehicle to promote the sale of any
particular works of art (although that may occur). Sites will be chosen
based on quality of design and content. Many future "Sites of the Week"
will be art-related resources that will be of interest to the online art
community. But again, sites will be chosen on the basis of their online
presentation - not the artworks themselves.
HeART Beat does not profess to be an art reviewer...merely a showcase for
art-related websites.
I'm sorry that my post was not clear to you.
Sincerely,
Kathy Casper

May I suggest a site for HeART Beat "Site of the Week":
http://www.terraport.net/archiavv/
which is an on-line art exhibition of Joseph Cusimano - the "Metaphysical
Surrealist artist known for his enigmatic excursions into the landscape of the
soul where the unreal can seem real in the metamorphosis of time. (A metaphor
of the Internet, perhaps?)". The site is an excellent example of culture being
promoted throughout the world using the Information Superhighway.
The site has won several awards including:
* "eyeSITE of the DAY" by "eye WEEKLY" magazine, Dec. 13/95,
* "Canuck Site Of The Day!", Dec. 27/95,
* "The Family Jewel Award", Dec. 21/95,
* "Barbara's Best Bookmark Of The Day", Jul. 16/95.
Netsurfer Digest reviewed the site in its Aug. 16, 1995 - Vol. 01, Issue 27
and said: "SERENELY SURREAL. Containing over [70] full-color reproductions,
the Cusimano gallery is well worth a visit. Many reproductions include the
artist's description of the work. An unusual addition is a glossary of the
imagery used in the paintings. The repeated images of apples, horses, running
men, and aqueducts become more easily understood within the context of each
painting. It seems to be rather important to Cusimano that we understand his
art, which is derivative of Dali and Magritte, but modified with its own
particular images. A history of the Italian-born Canadian artist is available,
as are links to other surrealist artists on the Web."
Visit the on-line exhibition of Joseph Cusimano for an educational
experience on surrealism and you will:
* Enjoy over 70 metaphysical surrealist artworks,
* Learn the beautiful language of metaphysical surrealist art
(37 surrealistic elements explained with pictorial examples),
* Gain an insight into the artist's creativity,
* Explore thoughts on surrealism,
* Read excerpts by Prof. Pellegrini, Prof. Giannelli, and Prof.
Lunetta included in Pellegrini's book "Passage to Canada", and
* Experience moments with the artist.
Joseph Cusimano's artwork is the subject of the book "Passage to Canada,
Tones and Atmospheres from the Palette of Joseph Cusimano" by Professor Glauco
Pellegrini, preface by Alberto Sughi, and essays by Prof. Silvano Giannelli
and Prof. Mario Lunetta. Reynolds and Eleanor Morse of the Salvador Dali
Museum of St. Petersburg, Florida, USA, are personally familiar with the
artist and his artwork. It has been said that in North America (USA and
Canada) there are 100,000 wildlife painters, 500,000 landscape painters, 1
million abstract painters, and that in the world there are 100 surrealist
painters (born between 1880 and 1940).
