Can anyone suggest an area to visit where I can keep up with current
events in the chinese contemporary art dept. So far my only link to
this dept is by going to www.artbeatus.com

Chinese-art.com has two separate sections of which the other one
concentrates on contemporary Chinese art. You can also visit our page
titled "Cultural and Regional Aesthetics" and see if our collection of
links are of use. There's also an article titled "Introduction to
Chinese Art and Aesthetics" by Prof. Dusan Pajin - that might be of
interest to you as well.
