I am a sophomore at the University of Florida and my major is art history.
What I want to know is what do you do with an art history major? I know
that I don't want to teach. Any input on exactly what jobs relate to this
field would be appreciated. Thanks-Jen

Good question, as a former art history major, what I did was to go onto
architecture school. Not really related, but not so different. Now I'm
getting a structural engineering degree, and I would be willing to bet
you any amount of money I'm the only engineer who can tell you about the
iconography of the Virgin Mary in 16th Spanish painting... :)

Good question, Lon. You might well be able to take some anthro along with
the art hist and be in a lot of demand for positions in small museums
around the country. The few students here that have double majored in
these two disciplines have been offered 5 or 6 positions when they leave.

Furthermore, most don't realize that those companies, such as Xerox,
IBM, Remington Rand, etc., (you can tell the kind of company by the
programs they sponsor on tv) often hire people like art history majors
who can talk to clients about something beyond sports. Seek, you might
be surprized.
