Boy, that'd be something for the medical journals, wouldn't it?!? :-)

Hopefully. And hopefully so is horror, adventure, comedy, mystery,
romance... you name it. Surrealism is just one of the many genres DOCTOR
WHO can play with. I'd like to see another episode like "The Celestial
Toymaker", "The Mind Robber" or "Warriors' Gate", but not *too* many. I
think the reason why "Time's Crucible" has gotten a bad rap is because it
was a surrealistic book coming right on the heels of another (better)
surrealistic book, "Revelation". Similarly, I wonder if the Season 17
stories would be so harshly condemned if there had been a few more
serious stories between them, just to add flavor.

As they say, variety is the spice of life. And WHO :-).

Future, present, and past, I think. A police box in a junkyard -- walk

qualify as a surreal image to you?

That would be the best. I loved S'dragon's story combining the two
worlds on alt.dw.creative a while back.

Imagine it: Dr. Who could "regenerate" from a somewhat cheezy sci-fi
show to a mythology of darkness, a Neo-Goth Bible...

On the other hand, maybe it's not such a hot idea...

Actually, Grant Morrison *has* done some DOCTOR WHO work. He did three
comic strips for DWM back around 1986 and 1987. Jamie Delano (of
"Hellblazer" and "Animal Man" fame) also did a couple of strips around
the same time.

Either of these excellent writers would make fantastic WHO scribes, I
think. But the guy I'd *love* to see pen either a script or a New
Adventure would have to be... Neil Gaiman. Any comments?

Yes, I'd forgotten about those. It's weird, actually, that he's so
wonderful at everything else, but these are comic strips are the height
of fanboy stupidity. (One of them has the Voord becoming the

That was "A Cold Day in Hell" wasn't it, the one where Frobisher leaves?
I don't have it, but I've heard of it, and I had the same reaction. In
fact, don't they say at the end that the Time Lords won't destroy the
Cybermen because eventually they'll evolve into some "higher cosmic
sentience"? Puh-leese.

Yeah. Well, I wrote a regeneration scene once in which a telepathic friend
is with him and "sees" that with him; she mutters "What a trip!" and gets
out of his mind before it sets something weird off in *her*. :-)
