He already has one in the list that no one can figure out Dave. Not that
that should stop him adding a new one.

No, Dave - Odo, who becomes Ood.

Potentially good clue Tim, but not cryptic!

Here's a cryptic one for that: "Scooby's back, and now he's an alien
species!"

From Pertwee to Eccleston - it all adds up to what sounds like a
Tennant story (5-3).

Round up: clues waiting to be solved. Dates posed will be the date in
Britain at time of posting, as that is where time is measured from.

Reminder of how the game should work below the clues.

-----------------------------------------

1) Story B (4, 2, 3) [TB, posed 17 June]

2) The first month is difficult, except for the last day, which can be
the point of death (5,5) [MM, posed 22 June]

3) I am the stag moving round the young Doctor (5,5) [sp, posed 23 June]

4) Ashildr can carry eleven like Salamander (7) [sp, posed 23 June]

5) From Pertwee to Eccleston - it all adds up to what sounds like a
Tennant story (5-3) [MM, posed 30 June]

-----------------------------------------

The game: post a somehow Doctor Who related cryptic-crossword-style
clue, for other posters to try to solve. Whoever gets it right,
posts another clue, and so on. Feel free to join in, though.

If you need guidance on how to compose cryptic clues, try this handy
link for a fair set of ground rules:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/games/10527732/A-guide-to-cryptic-crosswords.html

Here are the specific guidelines - each clue should contain a
definition, which should point towards a solution if read correctly,
PLUS a play on words that points uniquely to the solution if processed
correctly, PLUS it should relate to Doctor Who in some way.

If any clue remains unsolved after fourteen days, I'll answer it if
either I posed it, or knew the answer but was leaving it to others to
resolve.

There wasn't. The Face of Boe featured in "The End of the World", "New
Earth", and "Gridlock", (and in a news report in"The Long Game") and Jack
Harkness suggested that as a young man he was once called 'the face of Boe'
in "Last of the Time Lords".

And that's all the Boe there is.

Out of Time - clues that have waited for a long time to be solved.
waiting to be solved. Here are the solutions:

1) The first month is difficult, except for the last day, which can be
the point of death (5,5) [MM, posed 22 June]

The first month = "Jan" (uary)

is = "is"

Difficult, except for the last day = last of day is "y", and a difficult
time can be said to be thorny, as in "a thorny problem". "Thorn"(y)

Point of death, therefore = "Jan is Thorn" = janis thorn, the lethal
weapon beloved of Leela.

2) I am the stag moving round the young Doctor (5,5) [sp, posed 23 June]

Anagram for "Theta Sigma", allegedly a nickname of the Doctor in his
university days.

3) Ashildr can carry eleven like Salamander (7) [sp, posed 23 June]

Ashildr = "Me"

Can = "can"

eleven = "XI"

"Carry eleven" means the eleven will be nested inside the other parts.

"Me XI can" = Mexican, like Salamander.

Round up: clues waiting to be solved. Dates posed will be the date in
Britain at time of posting, as that is where time is measured from.

Reminder of how the game should work below the clues.

-----------------------------------------

1) From Pertwee to Eccleston - it all adds up to what sounds like a
Tennant story (5-3) [MM, posed 30 June]

If any clue remains unsolved after fourteen days, I'll answer it if
either I posed it, or knew the answer but was leaving it to others to
resolve.

There hadn't been any posts made to this thread in almost a week. So
unless someone wants to add in some new clues, I'll reveal the final
answer (unless sp wants to - pretty sure s/he knows it) and leave you to
your alphabet games.

Well, to solve this one, you just have to follow the instructions in the
clue itself: "From Pertwee to Eccleston - it all adds up"

3+4+5+6+7+8+9 = 42 (which is the title of a Tennant story.)

Write it in words, and the answer is Forty-two, (And you don't even need
to spend seven and a half million years thinking about it.)

I almost wrote the clue as "it all add up to what sounds like Douglas
Adams' Tennant story", but I thought that would make it TOO obvious.

make it too confusing.

The key is in the word "color". Can you think of any characters with a
colour in their name?

I know of two such characters during this decade, and one more during the 2000s.

I would guess Under The Lake, but I can't figure out how the given clue would lead to that title. Lake Michigan?

Yes. Under from Below. Any lake would have done, but Michigan was chosen as
it was famous and also a name other than a lake that the word "below" might
fit with.

Round up: clues waiting to be solved. Dates posed will be the date in
Britain at time of posting, as that is where time is measured from.

Reminder of how the game should work below the clues.

-----------------------------------------

1) Character: A choice of child genders plus a color (5, 4) [TB, posed
08 July]

2) Character: Victorious weight, cold religious venue (7, 9) [TB, posed
08 July]

3) Story S (4, 9) [TB, posed 08 July]

4) Mad son could be a twin (6) [sp, posed 10 July]

5) Torchwood's story editor? (4) [sp, posed 12 July]

6) Usurians left us following Sil out of the distant past (9) [sp, posed
12 July]

If any clue remains unsolved after fourteen days, I'll answer it if
either I posed it, or knew the answer but was leaving it to others to
resolve.

The Doctors (The title for the Christmas special. I think that the Last Doctor isn't certain that it will air under that title, or maybe at all, considering the collapsing ratings!).
