Hmm.... I was just sip[ping some really hot tea, which burnt my tounge,
the resulting wave of pain thereby blasting open one of the less-used
backwater regions of my mind wherein was hidden the following question:

Can anyone think of any incidences where Police Boxes appeared onscreen
in movies, Television or books or what-have-you which had *NOTHING* to do
with doctor who? It seems like they were supposed to have been quite
common, but the only place I've ever seen one turn up has been Doctor
Who, or a Doctor Who related gag- like the police box on Beyond 2000
(which I still have yet to see)...

The Police Box as been featured in several episodes of The Generation Game.
But not as the TARDIS.

They were quite common until the invention of a little thing called "RADIO"
After that they were quickly stamped out, except for out show and museums,
which explains how easily the Beeb bought the rights to it.

I'm pretty sure I saw one in the sea-side town in "Heartbeat" once, and
I have vague memories of one turning up in the background of a rare
London scene in "All Creatures Great and Small". Of course, the ACGAS
police box probably WAS the TARDIS prop...

There was a "New Avengers" epsiode which featured a Police Box in the
background. I think the ep was "Target." I can also recall seeing a
miniature Police Box (telephone) on a desk in as episode of Dawn French's
"Murder Most Horrid."

The strangest one I saw, was a few years ago. I was watching an
old 50s (I think) British detective movie, near the end of the
movie, they run passed a police box, the villian gets shot, after
showing a close up of him the camera looks up to the street and
the police box has gone! I cannot remember the name of the film,
but I have got this bit on video, somewhere.

Bits on Dr Who, any mention, if you see it on TV or hear it on
Radio I want to know, even better if you let me known before it's on.

Does anyone know where I could find measurments to build a police box?
I have this rather ugly white shower stall and thought it would be cool to
make it into a TARDIS shower.

How bizarre. I just read the end of this .sig (it was on a seperate page:

: Radio I want to know, even better if you let me known before it's on.

and thought, 'why do Radio 1 want to know about Dr Who?' How I laughed
when I worked out what was going on. I'll have to write and tell Woman's
Own all about it. I might win a fiver.
