Because Yads is a compulsive crossposter. He has this cunning scheme to
crosspost everything between radw and umtsdw, then show the news.groups
people that everything in umtsdw is redundant crossposting, and have the
group removed from Usenet as a result. No, I don't know why he's got a
grudge against umtsdw. He just has.

Jonathan Powell was Controller of BBC1 between 1988 and 1992.
Unfortunately like many UK arts graduates (embarrassingly from the same
university as me, but 11 years earlier) he has no appreciation for SF
and, worse, he was in a position to put Dr Who on hiatus....

Why "unfortunately" or "worse". Face it, Doctor Who, like almost all
sci-fi, wasn't very good and we were better off without it.

Now, if only we could get Powell back in power at the BBC, maybe he
could put a stop to the new DW series they're planning to inflict on the
airwaves next year. And while we're at it, get all sci-fi banned as
well.

Yes, and all that other crappy stuff too. Perhaps just leave all the
programmes involving Delia Smith. I am personally rather fond of
knitting as well. And quoits. And make sure we have at least one croquet
show.
