TORCHWOOD THIS WEEK
February 2, 2008 - Vol 2, No 5
The weekly guide to Torchwood transmissions.
by Benjamin F. Elliott
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/torchwood
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thisweekindoctorwho

Doctor Who schedule information is in This Week In Doctor Who
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thisweekindoctorwho .

This Week In Doctor Who and Torchwood This Week will not be published on the
16th of February, as I will be at the Gallifrey One convention
http://www.gallifreyone.com/gallifrey.php that weekend. The editions for the
9th of February will be for both weeks. Regular service will resume on the
23rd.

Two episodes of Torchwood will premiere on Wednesday 13 February. Look at
the schedule:

9PM GMT - BBC Two, BBC HD - 2-05 "Adam" (premiere)
9:50PM GMT - BBC Three - 2-06 "Reset" (premiere, 55 minute time slot)
10PM GMT - BBC HD - 2-06 "Reset"
"Adam" will not air on BBC Three that night. It looks like your only chances
to see Adam uncut during Torchwood's first run are to catch it at 9PM or on
your computer through the BBC's iPlayer.

One of the BBC's practices in recent years is to switch premieres of shows
from BBC One or Two to BBC Three or Four at some point during the run. When
this happens episodes continue to air one per week on BBC One or Two, and
usually the final episode will premiere on BBC One or Two. Viewers with
digital get to see some episodes early with BBC Three or Four, but all of
the episodes will air on the Terrestrial channel. We do not know at this
time if only Reset will premiere on BBC Three, or if more Torchwood episodes
will get this treatment.

The premiere of To The Last Man, Episode 3 of Torchwood Series 2, averaged
3.2 million overnight viewers on BBC Two on 30 January. Top BBC Two show for
the night.

The Northern Ireland version of BBC Two is not airing the Pre-Watershed
repeats of Torchwood and Torchwood DeClassified. BBC Two Northern Ireland
airs regional programming until 8PM on Thursdays. No evidence so far of a
delayed showing at a later date - will let you know if it happens. Viewers
who can see a BBC Two from a different region either over the air, via Sky
Digital, or via certain Digital Cable companies will still be able to see
the Pre-Watershed Torchwood and DeClassified. Just remember to tune to a
version of BBC Two that is airing the programming. All regions and variants
are getting the full episodes on BBC Two and BBC HD and BBC Three on
Wednesday nights.

BBC Two Scotland did not air the Pre-Watershed repeats of Torchwood and
Torchwood DeClassified episodes 2 and 3 due to the same regional variation
issue. However, BBC Two Scotland has scheduled Pre-Watershed episode 2-04
"Meat" and its DeClassified installment on Tuesday 12 February at 7PM GMT.
Presumably viewers of BBC Two Scotland will get the Pre-Watershed Torchwood
episodes on Tuesdays from this point forward, 5 days after the rest of the
UK. It also gives hope that BBC Northern Ireland may schedule the
Pre-Watershed version at some point.

USA - BBC America On Demand will start putting the Torchwood Series 2
episodes on their service from 4 February. 2 episodes that day, then 1 per
week thereafter. Episodes are full length (not cut for time like the BBC
America broadcast), though certain language, violence, or nudity cut for
broadcast will be cut on this version too.

USA - If you have HD Net http://www.hd.net , Torchwood Series 2 Commercial
Free and Uncut is coming Monday 11 February - 7PM, 10PM, and 1AM EST (4PM,
7PM, and 10PM PST). No Wednesday showings this time around, it seems.
Whether or not you watch Torchwood on BBC America, watch the HD Net version
if you have the channel. HD Net is available in the high definition
programming packages for DirecTV, Dish Network, and good Digital Cable
companies (aka - most Comcast systems do not have the channel yet - my
sympathies, I had Comcast for 4 years).

I am trying to find websites and station information for some of the more
elusive Torchwood sales. If you spot it airing or getting ready to air in
your country, and I've missed it, let me know so it gets into the next
edition and more fans get informed.

Corrections and updates are welcome at torchwo...@yahoogroups.com ,
TWIDW on AIM, and thebfe on Yahoo Messenger.
