Frank Wells, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Walt Disney
Company, and half of the top-level management team which has in the
last ten years guided Disney from stagnation and financial problems
to the ranks of the strongest companies in the world, was killed
today in a helicopter crash while on a skiing trip in (I believe
the report said) Utah with his family. Three others were killed in
the crash, and two hospitalized in critical condition.

Frank Wells was a graduate of this college (Pomona), and I'm told he
lived just a few miles from here. Though I haven't been a regular
in this group for some time now, I=A0hope that I can still speak for
most of us in extending our deepest sympathy to Frank's surviving
family and to those who were close to him within the Disney
organization.
