Does anyone have it? It isn't listed with 800 directory assistance.

Please mail it to me at sha...@eden.rutgers.edu

Thanks,

I don't know if it's available anymore. The story I heard was
that it was costing Disney a lot since kids were using it to
call up and ask for Mickey and Minnie. :)

(Even if it isn't true, it's cute.)

I would just like to say that the 800 number was initially
installed for the first WDW advertising program in 1984. I
was looking for extra hours at the time so I volunteered at
CRO (Central Reservations Office) to help handle the calls.
The majority of the calls were for reservations and information.
However, there were a great number of "Is Mickey (explative deleted)
Minnie tonight or did she spurn him again?" calls. Anyway, I
understand that the number is till active however unpublished.
Disney figured out that they could fill all of the rooms and
still have the guests pay for the call. Now do I remember the
number? Nope. However there is a direct line into CRO that
you can try (407) 824-8800. Also if you are just looking for
Disney trivia answers or info on the parks, call the info line
at (407) 824-4500. This is a line specifically dedicated to
answer any question about anything disney. Their database is huge.
If they can't answer a question for you they are immediately
fed to Ole' Smiley the 10' crocodile in the Jungle Cruise.
Guest Service is a seriuous business, except when it costs money.

WDW has an 800 number?!?!?! Really?
If anyone knows it, please POST it as I'm sure lots of us would
like to know the number. Has anyone tried calling it? Is it
just like calling the other (407) WDW information numbers?

I know of 2 800 numbers -- They are for Gold Card Magic Kingdom Club members
(one for each coast :-). May I suggest you join the Gold Card Magic Kingdom
Club?

WDW does not have a general 800 number. Disneyland has one, for
mechandise, and there are 800 numbers for the catalog, and for the
MKC. But to reach WDW Info or Central Reservations requires a toll
call.

WDW no longer has the 800 number because when they first had it, they
received a number of calls..not just from guests...but from the likes of
AT&T, MCI, etc. They were complaining that Disney was over-loading all of
the circuits. At one point, the 800 number was being contacted by over
ONE MILLION people. Not even the satalites or fiber optics of today could
handle that many calls. So the 407-W-Disney number is not becausewe want
you to have to pay a long distance charge (we have our own telephone
company for gosh sakes) we just couldn't handle the volume.

Actually, WDW *just* added an 800 number for merchandise, too. I don't
have it off hand, but I'll bring it back from work tomorrow and post it
next week.

We just got little cards at our store that list the phone numbers of all
the other stores in our district (Oregon, Washington, Alaska) as well as
the DL & WDW merchandise numbers. I forgot to bring one home, but I'll
have it for you all soon!

The new MGM in Las Vegas claimed to have received over a million phone calls
with a day after Barbra Streisand tickets went on sale last weekend, so surely
something in existence today can handle that volume of phone traffic.

I've used an 800 number to make all of my vacation package reservations.
I don't know if this is given to the general public, my brother-in-law
got it for me. I've called (407)WDISNEY and received the same help on
reservations that I did on the 800 number. I also heard that the people
that answer this number were contracted out from Disney. Here it is:

1 (800) 446-5365

Good Luck!

That's apparently the number for the Magic Kingdom Club,
since that's what they say when they answer the phone. However,
they don't ask for a name or an identification number or any
such. Presumably they would if you tried to make reservations,
though.

The story why I heard that disney dropped the toll free number was because
little kids were constantly calling it up to talk to "Mickey Mouse". I
personally don't believe this story to the fullest. Maybe they had some calls,
but enough to take down the system. My opinion is that when you are in the
drivers seat, like Disney definately is, you can make any decisions that you
want. Especially if it saves the company money.

I appreciate the help but just for everyone's information. I just called
this number and found that it is the number for MKC members only. They
will ask fr your card number before giving any assistance. They will also
direct you to the proper service for getting a card.
