CentraCare Rocks... but wait...
Tuesday
We got up, had bfast in the villa and left here for Epcot about 11am.
We were meeting Nick and Nora at 2p at Tutto Gusto, the wine bar next to
the restaurant in Italy.
The bus came quickly and off we went. BUT it seems we were not the only
bus arriving at Epcot. The lines for Bag Search (BS) were unreal....
So we walked over to the other side of the monorail platform to the ONE
guy with no one waiting. Boy I am so glad Nick and Nora introduced us to
that one. But keep it secret OK?
There was even a ticket kiosk open and in just a few minutes I had a new
RFID annual pass (Minnie Mouse) and thru the old style gate at that far
end. The folks were still jammed up at the other end.. We had plenty
of time so we had a wander. We went to Mouse Gears searching for some
PJs for Phoenix's Duffy teddy bear but no luck there. We walked thru
the butterfly house which was crazy packed and I got some pixie
stickers.. I am my own 6.5 YO! Went to Imagination for the Figment
attraction; in the car with us was an older couple (and yes I know we
are older but they were way older than us and very sprightly) and he was
delighted when he got off. Just a huge smile on his face. I love seeing
that.
Then we walked thru to the Festival Center which isn't very exciting...
I decided to use the single rider line at Test Track so Andy sat and
waiting for me. Some kind of interesting too. At the entrance a
Brazilian family was discussing with the CM about wanting to go togehter
in THAT line, 20 minutes. not the 55 minute line. He was patiently
explaining won't happen. I finally walked around and started my
journey. Then when it was time to be the guest in someone else's car,
well, another Brazilian family was trying to scam the CM. She was
having NONE of it! One young teen girl was sent to a line. She didn't
understand (like hell) but the CM just ignored it. She put another one
of the group in another line and ordered one more into a different one
(He went easily. I am pretty sure he understood English and he was
military) then that left the 8 YO boy and Dad.. Boy is sent, he just
panics and goes back. Doesn't understand why, etc. I did believe that
one and Dad did nothing. Finally they both stepped aside and didn't
ride; I saw them alla grouped on the exit ramp. I was placed with
two men. One I sat next to was not thrilled to be in the middle seat but
he did ask if I had enough room and I was fine.
Next up the Odyessy Center to exchange Andy's old pass for a new RFID.
Boy they wanted anyone to come in. The place was deserted except for
CMs. Andy did pass up the training. He's pretty smart..
Next we continued out wander into World Showcase. Only 5 minutes on
the troll attraction so we did that... Then just went to Italy and
waited. I decided to start the day with some procesco which was pretty
good.
Nick and Nora appeared and into the cave we went. It's like a wine cave.
Very dark but the ambiance is nice and it's cool and not loud. We did
antipasti, had some wine and enjoyed the light lunch because Bluezoo is
on tap for the evening...
We decided to walk to DHS! Why not. A beautiful day, we all like to
walk and we need to be mindful of the calories.... DHS is were we
got to use our RFID passes. Pretty easy peasy. Andy's commented he was
glad he passed up the training!
We went on GMR with a very good CM (Scott) and then walked back to New
York Street and back in Pixar Street. I do love the theming in that
area. The Green Army Men were not out which I missed. Andy got
himself a Mickey Bar (he was feeling peckish I guess) and we walked to
the Swan and Bluezoo!!!
We sat in the bar and the party continued!!! Nick got a Boulevardier
(http://cocktails.about.com/od/whiskeyrecipes/r/boulevardier-cocktail-recipe.html
), Nora a negroni, Andy a gin and tonic and I got my beloved barrel
aged manhattan... God Bless Chad for this one. Nick saw Alton Brown
tweet his drink and he loves it... For "dinner" we had assorted
stuff. Andy and I both had the house made hotdog which is to die for.
Joseph, the best waiter there and he's from Jersey, came by and we
chatted. He went and got us some of the house made potato chips to use
to dip up the remoulad sauce that came with the calamari. Yummo!!!
I was out of drinkie so I had a second BAM! I have no idea if the
others did... And we splurged on dessert; Andy had some chocolate
mess, I had the banofee which was wonderful and we all had decaf.
That was it!
We finally left Bluezoo about 3 hours later and walked thru Epcot out
the front to our respective chariots home. Our bus to Kidani was
actually there and we were home about 9:30p. And the rash had started....
I almost died in my late teen from scallops; severe reaction to
bivalves. Shrimp is OK, etc but I have never tasted another scallop or a
clam or mussel, etc. I thought I had Disney rash which is OK. I can
deal with it. But it was more. I took a benadryl, slathered on my itch
cream and some Gold Bond powder too.. At 12:30a I was awake and took
another benadryl, slathered myself in more itch cream. And looked up the
closest CentraCare.... West on 192 almost to 429. I finally did go
to sleep about 4 with my alarm set for 7am.. I wanted to be there when
it opened.
And at 8am, three of us were let in and I was home by 9:15 with a
prescription of Methylprednesone. Six tabs today and decrease daily for
six days and I am done. Benadryl for the itching and I will be well
again. We are going back to Bluezoo tonight with friends from
Lakeland. I will ask about the calamari and how it's deep fried but I am
pretty sure that's the culprit.. Not Bluezoo's fault; I didn't ask...
It's all good! Heading to Animal Kingdom today. Weather continues to
be beautiful!

that in the past - it seems that either the CMs have been trained not to
confront, or they have just been too conflict-averse to stand their ground.

aware. Maybe a knife wasn't clean... Don't know. We were there last
night and just avoided it all together and will in the future. The
waiter made sure everything was clean. Our friends are gluten free
and they even had special bread for that that was good....

I use the single rider at Everest a lot and I have seen that tactic
twice in the last 10 days.
CM wasn't buying it at Everest either.

All my life, I never had any food allergies and I've usually been able
to eat anything without worries of stomach issues - Ive never had
heartburn or reflux or anything like that. About a year ago, I started
noticing that I'd start feeling sick after easting. I had to keep a
food diary to figure it out, and it was chicken. It seems that chicken
in any form is a problem for my digestive system. I'll eat it if that's
what is being served, but given a choice I avoid it. But the worst
thing is I started having episodes where I break out in hives after
eating shellfish. So far, it's nothing but itching (no breathing
problems) so I just put up with it. I have found giving up chicken has
not been an issue (it's pretty bland anyhow), but I'm not giving up
shrimp and scallops!

Well, let me tell you. I ate scallops back close 50 years ago TWICE

and the second time almost killed me, seriously BP was close to nil...
I spent days in the hospital. No scallop, clam, mussel, even conch
(which isn't a shellfish but has a shell) ever crossed my lips. Turns
out our son has the SAME allergy. Now, shrimp, I am noticing my throat
closing when I eat more than say TWO. I am no avoiding them too.
BTW, the scallops were wonderful. So soft and buttery... And I don't
do well with salmon either. I have a new philosophy of food; if I don't
like the flavor, I don't eat it.
At Bluezoo with our Lakeland friends, we were "treated" to lamb
sweetbreads.. Hummm, but they were really very good. I only had
about 1/3 of mine and one of my friends had the rest. Not brains,
pancreas....

I never had a problem before, but now have dev. an allergy to aspirin
and having trouble with peanuts too, not full blown reaction but tummy
issues.
Just another (not so good) benefit of aging I guess.

Allergies can develop at any time according to my dr.

sure how well I will handle that - I love shellfish and eat it quite
regularly, at least weekly.

other than the pain, it was never a problem. About 15 years ago, I was
stung and at first I was just annoyed, but an hour later when I woke up
on the floor gasping for breath, I realized I had developed an allergy.
We keep an Epi pen in the house, but for the most part, I just keep
cans of that 20-foot stream wasp killer around the yard, and snuff out
as many of those flying b@stards that I can!

shrimp. Histamine cells gets charged up and the reaction. Benadryl
works.
Amen to the pork an beef. Even chicken.
