If we wish hard enough... And believe strong enough...
Maybe Tink will fly high over this city of Chicago and dump enough
pixie dust that it'll make the snow go away and not break my back
for the weekend.
Keane, who knows it snows in winter... Really, he does... Sorry
for the whine...

It will get better, eventually.... Lisa
We've been pretty lucky -- not much snow here at all (Southern Ontario). A
bit of freezing rain but it's melted already. Just a few flakes coming down
right now. I'm hoping we don't get much snow -- my poor puppy won't be able
to play in the yard if the snow is deeper than he is tall!
Michelle
Feeling your pain in Milwaukee. It's been coming down slow but steady
since well before I got up this morning. Probably have 3 inches
already, they're calling for 8-10 before the day is done...getting to
class tonight is going to be super fun :)
So, some on down.
We're only getting an inch and the Varsity is guaranteed to stay open!
-Fizzie in "Hotlanta" (where it's 27 degrees and dropping)
Im am the luckiest man alive I was supposed to be in WDW the 8TH -15TH
swithched to the 19th of Jan!!
We just came back from retrieving our son early from school in Sandy
Springs. Didn't want to risk the traffic jam that will most likely happen
later this afternoon! And I'm sure the supermarkets are overrun with
Atlantans stocking up for the snow LOL!

Here in the Bay Area, never mind how long winter might last, we
would just be happy if it would *start*. The forecast for the next
week shows temps in the 60s and no sign of rain. :-(
Patty
Priceless!!
And bread. Yup. Glad I'm not the only one who's heard of that term. We have
those people even here in northern NY, at least for the first few storms of
the season. Then they switch over to Campbell's and Coors to survive the
weekly Storm Of The Century.

And here we have a Winter that ironically complains Winter isn't
here yet.
Sympathy, not, Patty. :-)
Keane
We ended up with about 12 inches. Light snow, too. Not that heart
attack snow.
Still, 10degF tonight, 4degF tomorrow night, and I have to be in the
office early Sunday... Ugh.
Keane
I can't imagine getting out in a cold car on Sunday morning.
Lisa
Gee, I guess I shouldn't mention that it's sunny and almost 80 here in
San Diego today...

I love this term! Never heard it called that, but it sure fits!

Oh Laura, that's just cruel!
Yesterday was the longest day ever - never thought we'd get home!
Nothing was moving. Today was a smidge better, but we're still all
pretty buried. We pretty much had to cross our fingers that the car
would make it up our driveway, and safely into the garage. (It did.)
We *so* need a snowblower.

Bummer! Sorry you have to work Sunday. I'm now in for the weekend, and
don't plan to venture out again until Monday morning. Not much to look
forward to for the next week, though. Single-digit lows early in the
week, eventually reaching highs in the low 30's by mid-week... which
will bring yet more snow. I don't know how many inches we have, but
it's a lot for us. (Somewhere between ankle and mid-calf deep, not
counting bigger drifts. Nowhere near your 12 inches, I'm sure, but
still a lot.)

Just a hop south of you, here in StL we only got a couple inches of
snow, but the temps and wind chill are very similar. And my mini-van
has no heat.
Thank the Great Maker I am also a Doctor Who fan, and have a Tom Baker
era inspired scarf (14 ft long, 11 inches wide, mostly navy blue with a
couple accent stripe of gold near each end).

MidAtlantic region it's toilet paper and milk. And I kid you not, last
huge snow storm, my coworker said she had to go to the store because she
was out of toilet paper and milk. I tried to go to the grocery myself
just for a luxury item or two, and there were so many cars people were
parked on the grass trying to get in. Insane.

Many many years ago, my mom knitted one of those for my brother when he was
a Doctor Who watcher. He still has it!

In Rhode Island, it's bread and milk. Suggest that it's going to snow
and you can't get any bread and milk there's such a rush! (I think
this comes from the blizzard of '78 when Newport was literally cut off
from the mainland for several days! - I was in NYC at the time.)
It's cooled off...only 78 today. :-)
<Ahh...I can feel the hate swelling in you...>
Uh oh...that implies that getting DOWN the driveway can be challenging,
too, with your car perhaps going somewhere you don't want it to go. :-(
I hope you're not having to deal with ice now!
be sure to take your salt tablets.... Lisa

And here I thought Darth Sidious bought it in Ep6.
It's good to know you're alive and well in San Diego.
Keane, who could use some midi-chlorians...
Fortunately, we really haven't had much ice this time - just a lot of
snow that isn't melting. And we live in the sticks, so even if it's bad,
our biggest concern is whether or not we can make it out of the
driveway. The worst that's ever happened is getting stuck, or sliding
onto our neighbor's lawn - no damage done.
Looks like it should start warming up in another day or two (but I'd
still rather be in San Diego).
