Spring Break Crowds

Hi, got back from our regular spring break trip. Place was packed, we were
locked out of blizzard beach at 10:00 in the morning due to capacity
crowds. Crowds do not bother us, we are from the left coast so with the
time switch we sleep in late and hit the parks late, usually we can walk on
most rides. Checking out the parking lots it looked like there was an
unusual amount of people who drove. My guess is that people put off their
planning until the last minute than decided to pack the kids and the dodge
caravan and hit the big D. Very nice crowd, I think the thing I enjoy the
most about d world is seeing so many nice families enjoying time with the
kids. Just about everything was open, not river country, not port orleans
fq. Staff appeared adequate and in a very good mood, nice to have their job
back, the only thing we noticed there seemed to be lacking in the amount of
sweepers. and the piano player at the riverside has still not returned ( I
hope he took another gig and will demand a raise to return, should have
never been laid off). We only had 3 negatives first the coffee in Dworld
is terrible, don't they have any starbucks there, and second would someone
please tell the europeans that the shower is included in the room price and
third we spend a lot of time at epcot and we are really tired of their
parade, makeover required.. One other item-- the ride they built at
dinoland is a fun ride but what a mismash design --totally carny and not up
to disney standards.

The coffee is not brewed, it's reconstituted from refrigerated concentrate, like
canned frozen orange juice; that's why it has bears no resemblance to real
coffee. With sponsor Nescafe plastering their name all over the place, you'd
think they'd want to present a better product.

There are still a few places where you can get brewed coffee, mostly places that
feature expresso. My favorite is the expresso cart in front of Tony's Town
Square Restaurant in the MK, because each cup is brewed to order.

By the way, the coffee at Disneyland is EXCELLENT!

There's really *great* coffee at the Polynesian's Kona Cafe. You'll pay
for it, mind you, but it's good stuff.

Coffee at Disneyland Paris is also Nescafe, but tastes awful, and is
different to both WDW and DL's coffee. :)

I actually went looking for a Starbucks while I was there...

I *believe* there is a Starbucks in the Marriott complex (Marriott
World Center) east of the property on 536. I never went in, but I
remember seeing the signs.

There is a Starbucks on Sand Lake Road, about 2-3 miles from the edge
of the property-- out Hotel Plaza Drive, left on 535, follow 535 to
435 and go about a mile and a half, right on Sand Lake, Starbucks is
on the left in the Publix shopping center.

Sandi -

The coffee at the Crystal Palace is Hills Brothers' Columbian Blend
Coffee. It's also a Nestle brand, but it's not frozen (it is fresh
brewed)...

I know this is the coffee they used as of December 2001, as we asked what
kind they used and the cast member serving us brought us out the packet to
show us the brand.

I agree, it is very good coffee, and I am not a coffee drinker on a
regular basis.

Fresh brewed seems to make the difference!

There's a Starbucks in the Orlando Premium Outlets as well. This is
between WDW and Sea World on International Drive. I had a very smooth
cup of "Verona" coffee last Sunday while at the Nova Era concert.

What about the Java Express and Joffrey booths in the WDW parks? They
are outside vendors. They still brew their coffee, don't they?

I think the booths open at the same time as the area they are in. I
believe all the WDW parks have them.

It opens when World Showcase does. For this week anyway that means 11am.

Coming from a country where coffee is some kind of national
refreshment and our coffee shops are some kind of meeting places
called "Kaffeehäuser" I have to admit that the regular coffee served
in WDW is not really my taste. BUT: there are some coffee places where
they make some kind of at least interesting alternative coffees. e.g
at the Boardwalk in front of the big store, however it is called
(screen door??).

The press pots they are offering at Boma, Citricos, (where else? Everywhere?)
are the only really good coffee I had on my last trip, aside from the steamed
coffee stand in the Polynesian, next to Kona Cafe.

Even the coffee drink I had from the Fountainview Express place in Epcot's
future world wasn't very good.

One little hint here. The Java Express booths have a frequent drinker
card which gives you the tenth drink free. If you drink a lot of coffee
(or steamers like I do) in the parks it might behoove you to get a card
and seek out the Java Express booths.

I was at DI a long time ago...but they were fresh-roasting their own coffee.
The little coffee shop offered a breakfast roll, coffee, and fruit for
around $6.00.

Anyone know if this is still the case?

Thanks Bob. I'll definitely have to get one of these. I was being very
good and staying decaffeinated. But I'm back on the caffeine wagon and back
up to about 2 pots daily. If FIL goes along, he drinks even more coffee
than I do.

I'm not sure whether you mean you have never seen a Java Express booth
(they are not marked as such) or the card. The Java Express booth I am
VERY familar with is the one by American Adventure. If you just ask the
CM there for a "Java Express Card" they should give one to you. If it is
a new CM just tell them the cards are usually in the little drawer just
to their right of the register.

They do have decaf.

If you can drink alcohol and like Frangelico (hazelnut) the "Kasbah"
with nutmeg and cinnamon (canned whip creme optional) is wonderful.

sorry, Bob, gotta stay away from that hazelnut stuff. Dang allergies. As
mcuh as I love coffee, and as good as this sounds, it just doesn't sound
good enough to lose my life over.

Actually both......now I am going to look for them. OH an iced decaf
.............yum. It is tough to be decarifinated in the world! But I think

I make Turkish coffee at home (probably tomorrow since my espresso machine
died last week). Is it anything like that?

So it would be the kind of stuff that I'd drink and then start 6 sentences
in a row, but finish none of them? I like that stuff......no one around me
likes it when I drink it though, and I just can't understand why! ;)

It is more like you start 6 sentences at once and talk so fast nobody
realizes you finished them all.

I was told last week that Java Express might be bouught out over the
weekend, so the WDW stands may change. Will find out for sure today when
I return to Epcot.

They were bought out, but I don't know by who. I do know they no longer
have the frequent drinker card and raised the price of a steamer from
$2.50 to $3.50 thus losing my business.

That's a shame! I guess they've lost my business too. I wonder if
they were bought out by Joffrey's, the other coffee vendor in the
parks?

I suppose we could have a long thread on what kind of coffees are
better than others, but as in most things, it all comes down to a
matter of taste.
As for the price, I doubt whether I would want to shell out 3.50 for a
cup of java. I am looking forward to the cofee at Kona's
however-already made 2 PSs there for breakfast and am planning on
visiting that cart I've heard about too.

I asked at one of the former Java Express booths today and they were
bought out by Joffrey's. A regular coffee is $2.25!
