I think it was the poor quality of the host. I dunno'. Between his
"gee whiz" vocabulary and the repetition of various footage over and
over... it was just awful.
I can't believe I would be begging for Stacey, Krista or Samantha Brown.
But ANY of them would've been better than this guy.

I watched it and thought it was okay- I liked the horitculture part
and the decorating of the suite at Sleeping Beauty Castle.
No way on earth is Krista better than this host. I can't stand her-
or Stacey for that matter.

I watched it all because it was Dis, but I have to agree. He was AWFUL!
And he repeated the same lines over and over...
Either he gave them nothing to work with or it was a poor editing job.
For me it was still worth watching, just for the castle lights in hi-def
on our big screen, closest I'll get to them THIS year.

Well, I wish Samantha Brown had done it; I like her.
David Bromstad was terrible. There was no rapport between him and the
woman who keeps track of their warehouse of Christmas decorations, which
was a drag because they were onscreen together plenty. He said "that's
insane", "that's crazy", and "Disney does everything big" over and over.
Next time it's on, make a drinking game out of it.
Even if Bromstad detracted from it, I'm still glad to have seen it. I
enjoyed seeing all the holiday decorations.

Jeff, that's so funny! I posted on Facebook yesterday about how great I
thought this was, and how much more I liked the host than Samantha Brown
or a Disney spokesmodel.
I loved his enthusiasm and knowledge of the design/decorating industry
from a non-Disney perspective, and how he interacted with the cm's.
~Amanda
Hehehe... well, even if a love of all things Diz brings us together, we
still have individual likes and dislikes. It's ok, I still respect you.
:)
But Alpha's post had it right - there was simply no report between the
host and the head of the design team. In fact, you get to see that
warehouse on the Backstage Magic tour... and there are HUNDREDS of
questions that anyone visiting there for the first time could want to
ask.
What did he do? He asked the simple ones, in various forms,
repetitively: How many "x" are there?
Even the video wasn't that spectacular. They repeated several clips
twice, yet never actually pulled back to show the true "massiveness" of
that warehouse - or even a full shot of the Spectacle of Dancing Lights.
Maybe it's because they really just wanted a teaser. I dunno.
I'll admit that it was cool to see the castle all lit up. I really
loved the quote from the castle decorator who said that they always
consider the lasting impression the decorations have on guests... and
all I could think about was the CakeCastle. But it does look great this
year.

I had to look up the program in question. It's on HGTV. What do you
expect from HGTV? :-)
Personally, I'd really like to see 'Anthony Bourdain does WDW'.
*That* would be a great show.
At the very least, we'd probably get a tour of all the smoking areas
in the Parks...

Now THAT I would LOVE to see!
Michelle
Yes, I had the exact same thought at that moment, too! I'm sure the cm
was thinking about it, himself.

I was so hoping he'd ask her what her favorite decorations were..which
resort, also if she got her fill of decorating at WDW, or if she still
decorated her own home.

Yep, someone missed the "classy" boat with that, but I think they've
redeemed themselves with these Castle Xmas lights.
I think it is breathtaking on the screen, can only imagine how
spectacular it is in person!

He's a little too sardonic for me. He's too verbose and the show is
overwritten for my taste, but I guess his take on WDW would be
interesting if nothing else.

I'm sitting here looking at my Cakestle figurine and remembering the
mouthdrop I did when I first saw the real thing.
I wonder if the Imagineers realized how appropriate it was to use
Pepto Bismol pink?

We watched the show as a family. It had potential, but as you stated,
the guy was terrible.
Guy Fieri is doing a Christmas Special on Food Network. Looking
at DisneyLand. I think it's on Saturday night here in Marietta, GA.
Lisa
Cool, thanks! DH just set the DVR (since we'll be at WDW - woohoo!). I
like Guy. :-)
