Our parents are eating up our Disney money

to take with them... and it means no RADP and no Disney in 2010 for us.
Why can't we just say no? No, we don't care to come out to see you,
no we're not taking you to the beach, we have to go to Disney World.
Sigh.
I thought we could bump up our 2011 return to the Mouse, but I just did
the 2010 budget, and there's no way. And Orlando is just RIGHT THERE
along I-95... I cross I-95 every week... there's an entrance ramp
pointed south, I could just jerk the wheel to the right a little...

Yes, I will be using that line in 2011. Probably 2012. Maybe 2013.
Miles is almost old enough where I could start shipping him out to CO to
see my folks, solo. I love where they live because it's beautiful, and
there's a lot to do, but they are at an altitude (around 9700 feet) that
just kicks my butt. I feel like crap the whole time I'm there, so I
guess I could use that as my ultimate excuse!

Amanda, the problem is you want to use an excuse rather than the truth.
IIWY, I would tell them that you have a trip to WDW planned for December
to see old friends that we haven't seen in many years. And because of
that, your budget does not allow for any other long distance journeys
this year.
Besides, if it were my parents, I'd have laid down the law a long time
ago that if we are the better part of a continent apart that yearly
visits just ain't gonna be happening. But that's me. ;-)

Just out of curiosity, what would a diuretic do for altitude sickness?
Amanda was on it for awhile before her last surgery for glaucoma but it made
her sick. What happens when you get altitude sickness - do you bloat?
Curious minds want to know!

Be sure to read all the info about any new medicine. My eye doctor
also put me on Diamox for glaucoma, and after about a month I was
feeling very low, could not eat, and getting backaches, and it did
not help my eye pressures all that much. It took several months
after stopping the Diamox until I was feeling "back to normal,"
including a somewhat diminished visit to WDW last September in the
hot weather.

Fortunately she wasn't on it very long since she felt so nauseous and it
really didn't help her pressures all that much either. The one thing we
were told to do was to make sure to up her potassium and sodium intake.
That might have accounted for some of your ill feeling.

getting off the airplane at Cusco and breathing becomes very difficult.
I think Diamox also helps with nausea. I didn't understand how
a diuretic would help but it's the recommended drug for
altitude sickness.

As a nursing home nurse that gives out dozens of dieuretics a day,
you made me curious as well... Wikipedia knows..heh.

We just returned from 10 days in NY visiting Jay's family. We spent an
unexpected $1K+ for a hotel when we arrived and they were all sick (no one
told us this beforehand). We had a trip to Atlantic City planned with his

dinner in a diner and woke up his parents so we could ring in 2010 with
them.

Yikes -- that was a little rude and disappointing! I'm so sorry your NY
Eve sucked. Sounds like ringing in 2011 will be much better!
