Who, where, when, etc.: Me (Kitty, aka Bashful) forty-mumble-mumble
years old, and my bashful hubby Rocky, fifty-mumble-mumble years old.
This is our 16th trip to WDW, the first being our honeymoon in 1997.
Were DVCers and stayed at our home resort, Boardwalk Villas, in a
studio, from Dec. 5th to Dec. 13th. Im a vegan (I dont eat meat,
dairy or eggs), but DH is not. Were both pretty bashful me being
worse at the one-on-one, and Rocky being worse with crowds. So yes,
were going to the most crowded vacation destination on the planet, with
a plan to meet a bunch of axe murderers for the first time. Clearly we
drank the Kool-Aid.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Up same time, breakfast in the room. Our Magical Express envelope was
pushed under our door must have been when we were eating breakfast. It
was kind of a downer to see the envelope. Were used to the bill
appearing on our last morning, but we still had a full day left! Of
course, this is the point in the trip where our differences really begin
to show. Rocky was getting seriously Disneyd out, and was ready to go
home. I, on the other hand, still felt like there was so much I wanted
to do. I was not ready for the trip to end.

(I have this tiny little composition book I carry around with me
through-out the trip. I use it to make notes about everything. Its
the basis for this trip report. Anyway, I always write a note on the
last page before the trip starts. This one said: When the trip is
coming to an end, and I dont want to leave, just remember that I have 5
good reasons to go back home: Charm, Dash, Pepper, Thumper and Timber.
Thats our five cats the one thing I miss desperately when were
away from home.)

So, today were headed for the Animal Kingdom first visit this trip!
I really do love this park. Its absolutely beautiful, and there is so
much detail to get caught up in! But there isnt quite as much to do,
and Rocky finds it just a little boring, so we tend to spend less time
here than any other park.

We started with a quick ride on Expedition Everest awesome ride as
always, and almost a walk-on this early in the day. After that, we
went in search of the AllEars Hidden Mickey meet with Steven Barrett.
My true motive here was to say hi to Laura Gilbreath. Id managed to
miss her earlier in the trip - it was really nice to see her again, and
we did get to chat a bit. I also enjoyed listening to Mr. Barrett, and
learned a bit more about hidden Mickeys. Sadly, hes no longer able to
take people on actual hidden Mickey searches, as the large group tends
to annoy Disney. We stuck around long enough for the group photos.
(Rocky was hanging back, just taking his own photos with our camera, and
trying to stay out of the picture. He ended up becoming the designated
photographer, as everyone tried to hand him their cameras.)

Soon it was time to head out for lunch. Im a bit disappointed that we
didnt do more at DAK, but knowing well be back someday makes it pretty
easy to miss attractions.

We caught a bus for the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and got our first look at
Kidani Village. I really do love this resort, and would like to give it
a try someday but something about this place seems to get on Rockys
nerves after a while (the music, I think), and I know Id miss the
convenience of BWV. But we always try to catch a meal here, so I can at
least get a little taste. This time, we were trying Sanaa for lunch.
Details will be on my blog, but I will say that this was probably the
best service we had all week, and we both enjoyed our meal (though if
Im being completely honest, this is not our favorite type of cuisine).
Im sure well be back sometime.

After lunch, and a trip through the gift shop, we caught a bus to Epcot.
We stopped for our free photo with Mickey Mouse (Disney Visa thing),
which was a fairly big deal for me. In all of our trips, this was the
first time I ever had my photo taken with Mickey. Unfortunately, I just
looked dreadful this day (tends to happen by the end of the trip), and I
really cant stand the picture. Oh well. Maybe now that Ive done this
once, Ill be able to try it again. The free photo is a cool little
benefit, but it was also one of the longest lines we stood in all week.
I may be hard-pressed to get Rocky to do this again.

At this point, Rocky was completely fried, and just not much into
anything, so we headed back to BWV and spent the rest of the day and
evening in the room.

I have the same problem with PiC...

Gee... Let me see. Someone named Kitty who owns... Cats! Whodda
thunk it...

I still regard AK as a half-day park. Then too, I suppose, all the
parks are half-day parks, since I'm rarely in one park the entire
day...

Well, they don't have music *everywhere*. What some don't seem to
like about AKL are the earth tones and the general darkness of the
result of using those browns, reds and greens.

Not my type of cuisine, either, but the food was good enough to get
me back.

You'll just have to use your charm, and convince him he had a good
time! ;-)

Wow...what a nice thing to say!!! I'm so glad we had a chance to visit
a little more, and I enjoyed meeting Rocky this time, too.

And he did it very well! He looked like he didn't mind doing it...I hope
that was really the case.

Yes, that's something we really missed, too. I really do like the
resort, but not being able to walk to ANY theme park is a shock
when we're used to staying at the Boardwalk!!!

LOL! My wife is always ready to get back home to our cats, even when we
just go to the beach for a long weekend. On the other hand, I don't
think I've ever been on a vacation long enough that I really wanted to
leave.

It's interesting that Disney would be annoyed by that, yet groups of
cheerleaders and Brazilians are perfectly welcome.

Wow, the music is one thing I really love about AKL!

Yeah, that is hard to beat.

I have! We know from experience that at two weeks, I want my bed. By the
time the third week rolls around, I am almost crying for it. And
I seriously miss my kitchen. I have thought about offering to help
in the kitchen of some cruise ship or resort.

(Shhhh... don't tell anyone, but "Kitty" isn't actually my real, legal
name. Everybody thinks I'm making up my last name, but it's the first
one that isn't real, LOL.)

But yes, it seems to be my destiny to save the planet, one stray cat at
a time. (However, I don't own them - they own me.)

I actually really like the decor, but the dim lighting would probably
get to me if we actually stayed there.

It's true. :-) Maybe next time, we can arrange a smaller meet, so we

No, he didn't mind (though I think he was a little intimidated by the
one really REALLY big camera, LOL). Taking the pix was a great excuse
to not be *in* the pix.

I'm thinking it's time to *officially* christen the Crescent Lake Snobs
