that be of the Walt Disney corporation. Please, if you want to hinder
the workings of American justice, go right ahead.
The Constitution of the United States provides freedom of speech, and I
was born here and I live here.
The internet has been formed and has grown based on the highest ideals
of the freedom of ideas, and this includes both the negative and
positive forms of these ideas. While expression of valid ideas in this
forum continues to be a privilege and not a right, the proximity of
these two forms of guarantee of human liberty are sufficiently close to
be combined.
By all means speak up if you think that these freedoms should be done
away with for the sake of some greedy criminal organization's public
relations and profits.
Currently, you have the same rights that I do to say such things.
I must protect my right as a citizen of the United States of America.
The executives of the Disney corporation are keeping me from
establishing that right.
Speak up if you agree with me. If not, may you and your imaginary
Disney world rejoice in all your evil greed and corruption.

out. The letters become bolder, and bolder, slowly coming into focus on the

Where was Pitzel from? He claims his law suit was filed in Washington DC, I
believe, yet he is posting from Georgia (via Citizens Telephone Company),
through Deja (a great way to try to hide your real identity. So, if anyone

Paul T. responds: None taken. Although I do believe that both the one dood, and
you, have good points.
I think that I have definately been influenced "by" Disney. Heck, my, and each
of our mere presences on this newsgroup testifies to that. In some sense, Disney
has influenced each of us.
And I admit that from time to time I have wondered if Disney doesn't have some
kind of insight on the psychology of the inner mind, such that they are able to
procure such deep sentiments amongst so many fans. Heck, look at that one guy
that has his whole body covered in Disney tatoos and spends every dime he makes
on related memorabilia. I think there are many people with varying degrees of
addiction if you will, to Disney. It causes one to pause, and wonder just if
there is a line between conscious choice, and some kind of psychological
manipulation from service and product suppliers.
But on the other hand, I can say with a fair amount of confidence that despite
my apprant committment to studying Disney, I do not let their best interests
interfere with seeking perspectives. If a story or idea lends itself towards
Disney's benefit, that's great. If it doesn't, that's not going to stop me from
searching for the truth. I do think that much is apparant with me and I believe
this is what you are referring to when you say the world has gone mad.
So, yes, I could see it as being reasonable to question if Disney has some sort
of subliminal capabilities. Heck, when I was a kid, there use to be nationwide
rumors that K-Mart and other chains played subliminal messages in their
department store music that shoppers hear. The idea, or entertainment of it,
need not necessarily be automatically dismissed as "paranoid." The level of
committment Disney gets from so many folks, may make an otherwise sane person
wonder if there's something more to it than just warm fuzzies.
Especially in this day and age when we have riots protesting world trade
practices, and groups who are very wary of corporationism on global scales. Some
think that the structure and governing of huge business is comparable to that of
governments. So seeing some get as large as Disney, with the combined ability to
control whole economies, may be indication of future dominance by them, as some
have opined as of late. There are an increasing number of legitimate news
stories showing up about this sort of thing.
Yet, someone who insists on the idea that Disney is capable of 100% control of
people's minds or that they are an evil presence who can posess the collective
thoughts of the masses, would seem to be either pulling one's leg, or suffering
from paranoid delusions of grandeur. In either case, personal alarm is not
warranted. Amusement from it is an immediate reaction, but should be short lived
in my opinion as it's only funny once. After that, if it's still a joke, it is a
stale one. Or if it is out of a true illness that someone believes that way
about Disney, it is likewise not funny.
Now if you'll excuse me, I believe I'll go scour the net for more Disney
articles, and count my change jar to see if there's enough for a resort upgrade
for our next trip, just because...well, I feel like it, is all. This is Paul T.

Gather round me, my children, and your Czarina will tell you of the murky,
far-off, downright baffling beginnings of the TDC...
Every Great Thing Starts With A Nutty Idea.. Once upon a time on the
rec.arts.disney.parks newsgroup a strange person named Michael Pitzel began
posting unhinged messages, claiming that Disney had stolen from him his
patented design of a "magical *MAGICAL* hat" which could be turned inside
out 6 times -- like a triple Mobius strip, sort of. He called this creation
the Trimobial Hat.
And Lo! A Great Genius Comes Along... Michael continued to rave on a
daily basis for about three months, castigating us all for being the dupes
of the Evil Mouse Empire. Finally, on the historic date of May 26, 1996, the
fabulous Sean Squier announced the formation of the TRIMOBIUS DISNEY
CABINET!!!, the members of which would take on titles having to do with
Disney/anything that could be expressed 6 ways.
This led to the production of numerous TRIMOBIUS *MAGICAL* products©®T
such as; TRIMOBIAL caftan, TWINKLE TIARA, BARBIE'S TRIMOBILIAN HOME, NFL
TRIMOBIUS and on and on. After that, it just caught on. Most people just use
it as a way of adding something silly to their sig., and of indicating that
they read the newsgroup regularly I suppose; but some of us do some light
role-playing as well.

Actually, it just says that congress will make no law curtailing your
freedom of speech; it doesn't say anything about private matters.
Various forms of restriction have been held to be acceptable in the
past; for example, not yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre,
restrictions on obscene material, etc. More and more cases are coming
up in which the courts are upholding cases against people who smear
companies online as well, particularly if you imply something is a
substantiated fact, not merely an unsubstantiated personal opinion.
Various contracts can also enforce silence; such as protection of trade
secrets, non disclosure agreements, gag orders in out of court
settlements, etc.
If you think that Disney has done something illegal to you, I recommend
you go consult a lawyer; this is hardly the proper, or, indeed, even a
useful forum, for that type of redress, particularly with something
that nebulous and unsubstantiated.
