Who, where, when, etc.: Me (Kitty, aka Bashful) forty-mumble-mumble
years old, and my bashful hubby Rocky, fifty-mumble-mumble years old.
This is our 16th trip to WDW, the first being our honeymoon in 1997.
Were DVCers and stayed at our home resort, Boardwalk Villas, in a
studio, from Dec. 5th to Dec. 13th. Im a vegan (I dont eat meat,
dairy or eggs), but DH is not. Were both pretty bashful me being
worse at the one-on-one, and Rocky being worse with crowds. So yes,
were going to the most crowded vacation destination on the planet, with
a plan to meet a bunch of axe murderers for the first time. Clearly we
drank the Kool-Aid.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Up at the usual time, breakfast in the room, and with a little effort,
we managed to get to Epcot not too long after 8am, for early entry. We
headed straight for Soarin which showed a 15 minute wait, so went for
it. It might have been closer to 20, but I love this ride, and didnt
mind the wait. We picked up a couple of FPs on our way out. (Im
originally from California havent been back in over 20 years.
Soarin is pretty much as close as I can get. Im probably one of the
few people that would be perfectly happy if they never change this video.)

Next, Living with the Land (a walk-on). I like this ride not an
absolute must-do, but I always enjoy it. (Must be all those vegetables.)

Test Track with a 10-minute wait, then Ellens Energy Adventure (no
wait, pre-show just starting). After that, we checked out some of
Innoventions. Wow that Sum of All Thrills looks crazy! Absolutely no
way youre getting me in one of those things! (However, it seems to me
that Disney could make this attraction more fun for everyone if there
was some way to see more of it from outside the attraction. Maybe I
missed it, but I never saw any drawings or anything showing what the
simulations looked like. A computer out front that demonstrated the
options, or even a video showing some examples would have been fun to
see.)

A walk through Mouse Gears (Rocky opted to check out a nice bench
instead), and then off to Canada, for our lunch ressies at Le Cellier.
After hearing so many people rave about this place, I was pretty excited
to give it a try. Sadly, it was not all that. In fact, given the
price, it was our biggest disappointment of the trip. But now I know.
(See blog for details.)

Time for mid-day break, with a stop in the UK to catch the World
Showcase Players from a distance. Were really careful to make sure we
dont get picked for this. I loved see the Christmas Carol, instead of
the usual King Arthur skit. Id only seen this one once before, and
clearly they changed it up a bit. All the ghosts were played by a
woman. She was a complete riot! She did the Ghost of Christmas Present
as Marilyn Monroe! (Okay, maybe you had to be there.) I did think the
advertisement for Disney Pixars UP movie was cute. (Yeah, only at
Disney would I find it amusing that theyre trying to get me to spend
more money, LOL. I guess it worked, though, as I just bought the DVD.)
(Dont the players get a little board with the same two skits? Seems to
me that there should be a lot of different ones they could do I mean,
not change every day, but maybe every year?)

We made the walk back to the resort, with stops at the Beach Club to see
the gingerbread carousel, a stop at the Marketplace to see what they
offered, and another stop at the Boardwalk Bakery, to ask some vegan
questions (not much available). Back in the room, I grabbed some
laundry and checked out the laundry room. Not my favorite thing to do
on vacation, but this was a long trip, and some laundry was necessary.

This was one of the warmest days of our trip, so we ended up sitting out
by the pool for a while, waiting for the laundry to finish. Later, we
decided to walk back to the Beach Club Marketplace and picked up some
dinner, which we brought back to the room. Wish this place was just a
smidge closer because it had some good options for us.

We didnt want to waste the warm evening, so around 6:30 or so we headed
for Epcot. We stopped to watch a juggler on the Boardwalk along the
way. We usually catch at least a couple of these acts every time we
stay at BWV, and we always enjoy them.

We still had unused FPs for Soarin from earlier in the day, so we
decided to make use of them. It was still almost a 15-minute wait with
the FPs, but I didnt mind. (I LOVE this ride. Did I mention that
already?

After this, we just decided to enjoy World Showcase. I was feeling
adventurous, and decided to give one of the margaritas in Mexico a try.
Being a fan of strawberry, I tried one of those, and was very happy
with it. Rocky doesnt drink bad memories from his younger years, I
think so I dont indulge very often. But after determining that these
were in fact vegan, I was curious. It was a fun treat, and had just
enough alcohol to keep me pretty happy the rest of the evening. (Im a
very happy drunk, LOL.)

Rocks hip was starting to bother him again, so we opted out of
Illuminations and made our way back to the room for a light snack, some
TV, and bed.

Us either! It looked like a vomit comet ride to me. And your legs are
dangling too. Nope..

Ive heard that, too. It's been since before the DDE the last time I've
eaten at Le Cellier. I though it was good, but not great. I did think
it was way overpriced - sort of like Outback quality food at prices
exceeding Ruth's Chris.

LOL!

I've always found advertising at WDW to be interesting. They often have
side-by-side pitches for things like movies, stage shows, and DVD's, as
well as theme park attractions. It's sort of a way to mix he fantasy
with the reality and it seems to work in a very subtle way.

A trip to Epcot is not complete without a margarita (or two) from the
Cantina!

I remember a margarita one year and I didn't make it as far as China
before it kicked in. Yes, it's not that far in Epcot-speak.
