A Silver Pass is for Cast Members who have worked for Disney for more
than 15 years. CMs can use it any day of the year EXCEPT during block
out days (usually July 4 and Dec 31) and can get as many Guests as are
on their Main Gate Passes.
If I am not mistaken, some high level salaried CMs, no matter how long
they have been with the company, also get Silver Passes. I don't know
any folks of that ilk, so can't say for certain. ;)
hope that helps!

A Silver Pass is a *free* pass that is given to employees of Disney...and this can
be gvien to employees up and down the entire structure of the company....that gives
them admission to the Theme Parks (at least WDW and DL...does it include TDL &
DLP?) for themselves and a specified number of Guests). Depending on the level of
the Cast Member....it can reach unlimited number of usages for those specified
number of Guests).

The new rules say that the CM must be with the party when they pass
through the gates and they were given some strongly worded guidelines
about only using them for close friends and family. The rumor is that
several CM's were found to be "scalping" their Silver Passes.

So once an hourly wage employee reaches 15 years then their benefit goes up? :)
(Jumping up and down) Great! Now we don't have to buy a one day pass because my
mom can't get everyone in.

The blockout periods change depending on the park and the year. I
believe the MK was a blackout period from Dec. 24-31, 1999 for Main
Gate and Silver Passes. The Cast Member has a pamphlet attached to
the pass holder which states these dates.

Main gate admission media can range up to unlimited usages for an
unlimited number of guests.

The CM is responsible for the guests' actions while they are in the
park. If the guests are not immediate family, the CM is supposed to
remain with them at all times.

Isn't this always why new restrictions are put into place. Thank goodness my
mother doesn't see it as an inconvience to get us in to WDW.

hehehe...I *knew* I had seen the words Silver Pass and Main Gate Passes used as
*different* concepts...but for a moment there...I was wondering if they were the
same or different.
