"9" fulfilled its destiny last week, coming in at 9th. place. :-)
Actually, according to boxofficemojo.com, the movie cost only $30M to make.
It's about to cover that cost with its domestic boxoffice.
Just a few weeks in, "Ponyo" has disappeared from theaters enough to have
a lower boxoffice than "Up" and "Ice Age 3". :-(
"Cloudy" won the boxoffice again last week, with an impressive 17% drop.
I'm not sure how much of an effect the "Toy Story" double feature will have on
it though.

I caught "Evangelion 1.0" in Charlotte last week. It was O.K. to watch.
But I had seen the series already, and this movie is so close to the series
that I couldn't help but feel bored. The new stuff consisted mostly of fancy
CGI animation for the sixth angel, a new tricked out den for PenPen, and an
ending that hinted at an explanation as to who was behind the angels. Most of
the movie's climax is dedicated to the battle with the sixth angel, and I did
find that segment very moving. This movie had no Asuka, and it reminded me
about how strong the bond was between Shinji and Misato. I actually wish that
bond had stayed the focus of the series.
Also, it seems that Doritoes and Pizza Hut have Hideaki Anno on the take.
