Would welcome any suggestions of music from the 1950's for dancing:
Waltz
Viennese Waltz
Rumba
Foxtrox
Cha-Cha
Mambo
Samba
and whatever else you can think of.
Thanks!

"error"... Freudian slip, Ron? LOL, j/k, it made me laugh. There are
some eras that I think are errors, too. ;^)
btw, your theme sounds cool.

What I'm really looking for are suggestions from people from their own
personal favorites lists. Songs that they like dancing to that were
made in that ERA (thank you Trish).
I hate when I go to "Old School" parties and all they play are the
most favorite, most popular songs from the period (I really, really
don't need to hear "Play That Funky Music, White Boy" any more, for
the rest of my life!) when there were a whole lot of beautiful "B-
site" tunes that appear to be lost to history.
So, if anyone reading this has his or own personal Ballroom dance tune
from that period, no matter how obsure, if you think it's a great
dance tune, please let me know the title, artist and dance.
Thanks!

Agreed. And Dino's got the Foxtrot well covered as well.

A few years ago I saw a big book in a bookstore that had info
about every chart topping song. It included songs that were at
number 10 (or was it 20) for only a week. It went back
at least as far as the 1950s. Maybe there is a web version
with just the titles and artists.

Just so. Most folks don't know what the 50's sounded like - after all
it was 50 years ago! Generally, DJ's play 60"s and early 70"s music
as 50's, which it ain't.

Some others that speak to me of the 50's for various reasons. Much of
the popular music of the 50's was primarily listening music - dancing
wias secondary. So you may find it difficult to dance to, since
you're used to today's tempi and arrangements, but they are fun once
you get into it.
Dear Hearts and Gentle People - Bing Crosby
Doggie in the Window - Patti Page
Glow Worm - The Mills Brothers
Good Night Irene - The Weavers
Hey There - Rosemary Clooney
I Can Dream, Can't I? - The Andrews Sisters
If I Knew You Were Coming (I'D've Baked a Cake)
It's not for me to Say - Johnny Mathis
Little Things Mean a Lot - Kitty Kallen
Mister Sandman - The Chordettes
Music Music Music - Teresa Brewer
My Heart Cries For You - Guy Mitchell
Oh My Papa - Eddie Fisher
Shrimp Boats - Jo Stafford
Teach Me Tonight - The De Castro Sisters -
Tennessee Waltz - Patti Page
Till I Waltz Again With You - Teresa Brewer
Vaya con Dios - Les Paul & Mary Ford
Walking My Baby Back Home - Johnnie Ray
You Belong to Me - Jo Stafford
Bookmarked.
You need an index.html there.
Yes, this is the sort of thing I was talking about. Thanks for taking
the time to share.
