Frank's last line is what we over at TV Tropes call an Ironic Echo.

And this was a nicely done one. (+1 to Frank)

Agreed. Just the right look to convey the sarcasm in his voice.

When I do that to my wife, I usually preface it with "A wise old person
once told me..."

She usually starts hitting me before I get past "old".

Agreed.

Does anyone find it odd that Luann didn't introduce her parents by name
however they prefer to be addressed by teens? (e.g. Mr & Mrs DeGroot)
What is Quill going to call them, "mom" and "dad"?

I also see that instead of wearing his normal black shirt with stripes
on the sleeves Brad is wearing his uniform - is he on duty on
Thanksgiving? Will he be called away to a fire in the middle of the
meal? Or will they *have* another fire at his house and we get treated
to the ironic situation of on-duty firefighter has his crew come put out
the fire at his house?

Nope. Her only alternative would be to introduce them using their
first names, and in my experience the large majority of adults prefer
not to be referred to by their first names by kids that young (And
Luann would probably feel weird with that level of informality
herself, since even she doesn't call them by their first name).

The echo by Frank was okay, but felt just a teensy bit stale since he
had already mined that vein to very good effect once so recently.
Going back to the well once is okay, but let's keep the material fresh
Frank.

For the first time, Brad is hosting T-day at his place for his parents
rather than the other way around. He probably felt like dressing up.
It seems that any Brad-based story arc inexorably advances the internal
timeline of the stip a little bit.

Brad also might be scheduled to go in later in the day. My dad was a
fire fighter and most holidays, he would get half the day off and
then he would go into work so that the other fire fighters would get
the other half of the day off.

Now that makes more sense than him dressing up, since
that outfit is obviously not his dress uniform -- which mostly
gets seen by the public at firefighter funerals...

By the same logic, then shouldn't Toni also be in uniform?

They don't work in the same station. Different stations will have
different rules and schedules. Even if her station has a similar plan,
it may be that she just got off of doing an early morning duty at her
station, and then changed into off-duty clothes.

Not if Brad is covering her. ;-)

=v= I call it filthy euphemism. Note how goggle-eyed he
is in the first panel, while ogling Quill's "package."
