She created the daily comic strip "Antoinette & Cleopatra"
under the name Joanne McGuire which was
supposedly syndicated by Copley from 1978-80.
The Comic Strip Project has this on her:
>Battiste, Joanne (McGuire)
>st. Univ. Colorado, Art Inst. Chicago
>cs “Antoinette and Cleopatra” ‘78-’80
>painter 85—
The "supposedly syndicated" above is because
it is a part of Allan Holtz's Mystery Strips,
strips advertised as available in Editor and Publisher
but never actually found in a newspaper.
Allan's entry for the strip from E&P reads:
>Antoinette And Cleopatra - Joanne McGuire - Copley News - daily strip - 1979
http://strippersguide.blogspot.com/2006/02/mystery-strips-of-ep-listings.html
The date discrepancy of 1978-80 vs. 1979 is easily explained.
It may have started too late to get into the Summer Syndicate
Issue of E&P in 1978 and ended before the Summer Syndicate
Issue of E&P in 1980, leaving its only entry in the Summer
Syndicate Issue of E&P in 1979.
