Do newspaper delivery boys (and girls, presumably) still go around
collecting the payments door-to-door?
-- Don
Yes, in very small towns. Our local paper still has "yoot" carriers.
When you pay, they tear off a little tiny receipt, about the size of a
postage stamp.
But the difficulty in keeping teen-age carriers delivering a product
to a dwindling number of subscribers, combined with the difficulty of
collecting from people who work irregular hours, means that motor
carriers are taking over --- our street has recently been converted to
a motor route, and I now pay by mail.
