Mind, it was only last year I learned that _Love Is_ wasn't just
a joke from The Simpsons.

My first thought when I saw it was "Now there's a fine canvas for the
NSFW crowd at Dean's Comic Booth to get busy on."

(I've seen non-related little kids, in hot weather, happily share lunch
outside looking just like that....)

(Not the Mickey & Sylvia song.)
And on an unrelated note: Tuesday is dinosaur surprise day!

And Monty. But I'm not linking to any Jarvis and Sedgwick arcs.

Not funny; thought-provoking.
Like the organ donation slogan says- Don't Take Your Organs to Heaven;
Heaven Knows We Need Them Here.

And based, I think, on one of Isaac Asimov's essays on why life after
death made no sense to him.

It's existentialism.

Doesn't the fact that there are *exactly* 50 states seem a little suspicious?

Over in Rockford Illinois the newspaper pulled the comic strip,
couldn't handle the controversy of blatant nudity in the funnies:
http://blogs.e-rockford.com/editorsnote/2009/11/05/jeremys-parents-are-naked/
By the time of part two of this bs, the editor had been corrected
as to who was actually naked and been tendered apologies from KFS:

I am going to assume that the Rockford funny
pages are amongthe most bland in the nation.

Interesting that they get bent out of shape out of some cherub-like
non-nudity, but (I assume) allowed the previous week's installment to
run, featuring the parents as zombies, feasting on another human,
including the father pulling out the intestines:

As seems to be the norm in America, gratuitous violence and gore is
just dandy, but even hint at the naked human form and you're all
denigratin' morals and propriety.
I found neither series to be offensive, but YMMV.

You could visit the paper and check out the Rockford files.
While you're in their morgue, look for last week's zombies...

"Love Is" runs among the classifieds in the L.A. Times, which is
probably what put it into the minds of the "Simpsons" writers.
