Remember, starting next week on July 4-5, 2021 the Mutts comic strip goes on hiatus with reruns possibly offered to papers. Will many papers carry the Mutts reruns or will some papers choose a temporary several month replacement for Mutts (Maybe the New York Daily News could replace the on hiatus Mutts with another strip like maybe a comic strip that hasn't returned to a NYC newspaper - excludes the Long Island Newsday - since the New York Post dropped its comics page in 2014 - Garfield, or maybe a Tribune owned strip like Dick Tracy or Prickily City - The New York Daily News still carries Tribune owned Gasoline Alley, of course!).

Why did they drop their comics page?

To save money (The New York Post, that is)?

Yes, that's the one. Shame, I guess the readers didn't care that much.

The Post used to be a respectable paper, but now it’s straight outa
Murdoch. No sense of humor.

According to Press Reader:

The New York Daily News has the "Mutts is on Vacation" blurb with no temporary replacement for Mutts for now.

The Chicago Tribune will carry the rest of 2021 Mutts reruns for now.

New York Newsday had a Mutts comic in today's edition. As per below The New York Daily News just increased the size of the remaining strips on the page with the note about Mutts hiatus.

The Los Angeles Times is still running Mutts.
