Brooke has posted some more of his
Wahoo Terminal strips.
http://officialpibgorn.livejournal.com/2008/07/25/

As Brooke explained to this group about seven years ago:
"After that [a different submission to the syndicates]
was waved away by all the syndicates, I created a thoroughly insane
strip
entitled "Wahoo Terminal," the after effects of which have found form
in
Thorax. Wahoo Terminal had nothing to do with reality (for instance,
a
peripheral character was a pet dinosaur named Fluffy who specialized
in
singing Broadway show tunes, but with great difficulty because of the
size
of her teeth). This strip excited interest, but also had no takers."

Scroll through his blog will you will come across
quite a few of these strips.
Here Brooke presents the first one he did of W.T.:

Hm. Well, I like the second and third strips of that page.
In fact, if the second hasn't been used as a throwaway gag at some
point in '9 Chickweed Lane' then McEldowney has more self-control
than I'd have thought. The first seems like too routine a punch line,
and the fourth seems sloppily constructed. I get the joke he was
going for, but the setup was too much for the punch line.

I can understand why it "had no takers", since it totally sucks!

I've gotten to hate this.

I can understand a hiatus, but this is ridiculous. He's been giving us this lame BS since November, ... after leaving us with a compelling backstory/cliffhanger about Pib.

She's the fairy queen? I want to know more! And who is the guy on the throne now, if Pib is supposed to be queen?

Do we get answers?

No, we get this Wahoo Termianl BS (sorry, but it is) that Brooke's editors vetoed. (That should tell him something.) I'm seriously losing faith in him -- and respect.

We know that it's not for lack or time or energy lately, either, because "9 Chickweed Lane" gets updated every day.

Brooke, you've sold out Pib -- and turned your back on that part of your reader base. I hope you come to your senses soon.

End Rant. (Sorry, but this just ticks me off so much ... )

A lot of cartoonists fall off in enthusiasm for their work after a decade or
two. I agree; Brookes posting his rejected, ugly juvenalia as 'Pibgorn' is
unprofessional and an insult to his readership. Of course, since he's
cut himself off from the fanbase (the 'beefwits' as he calls them), he has
no idea of the bad publicity he's generating for himself.

Pib is still on my daily comics folder, though not read. I'm thinking of
removing it since reducing his daily hit count by one is the only feedback
I'm able to pass on to him.

I'll bet a lot of NEW readers, going to his GoComics Page, will read the page title and description, then the panel title and content, see that they don't match up, and wonder WTF??? After several months of back-strips on this sorry excuse for a strip he is OBSESSED with now, ppl aren't going to understand what's WRONG and might not know that the last REAL Pib strip, you got to dig back to by at least five months, as I type this!

Ppl ought to contact GoComics and tell them they think someone messed up and posted the wrong strip to the wrong page. Maybe, they'll ask him WTF is going on???

I dunno if GoComics has a paid subscription program, but if it does, I'm glad I'm not subscribed, as Pib is the only thing I read.

I wonder how many ppl are so alienated now that they are unsubbing over this trash he's forcing down our throats now? Let him explain to GoComics WHY HE IS DESTROYING THEIR CUSTOMER BASE AND LOSING THEM BUSINESS. >:{

I forgot to mention.

I'm not against Brooke. I don't wish him ill fortune.

In fact, I think he's a brilliant cartoonist, his strips are stories witty and cutting-edge with beautiful art. Some of the Pib pages are absolutely breath-taking!

Since I discovered Pibgorn, I have been a loyal fan and reader for years now.

It's just really, really, really sad that he's choosing to drop the ball and betray everyone like this, with this second-rate junk over the content that's been a ground-breaking gem since the beginning.

Seriously, what's he trying to prove or accomplish with this garbage he's been giving us?

Instead of the current story? Seriously, I consider the current arc permanently incomplete. Or it might as well be.

RIP Pibgorn at this sad and sorry rate.

There's one through Universal Uclick. I don't recall what the rate is,
but it's billed annually, so it can't be much.

That seems...extreme. Heck, if I can read "Volume the First", "Volume
the Second", and "Volume the Third", I guess I can read "Wahoo
Terminal". And it's not all that unlike, say, "Piranha Club" or any
number of panels.

Both of those links just show me "There were no entries on this day."

It's weird, but both of these links redirect me to "Investing In Gold For Your Retirement".

I have this vague notion in the back of my head the Brooke claimed there were
about 8 months worth of strips.

Yes, they're awful. Since Brooke disdains all contact with his readers, he
probably has a very unrealistic idea of how much they're disliked. I've unsubbed
from Pibgorn, the lack of 'hit' from me is the only feedback I can give him. I
check about once a month to see if he's still inflicting his rejected-with-reason juvenalia on the public.

I long ago stopped reading the strip, the writing is so bad. But Brooke can
draw a pretty girl.
