Hello,

this morning I found a cartoon on my Gary Larson Off-the-Wall Far Side calendar
whic
which I dont understand at all. It shows several men in trenchcoats and hats
with binoculars in their hands and it has the caption: "Boid watching". Now, I
understand that boid ist obviously a pun on bird especially since one of the
men carries a book with a bird on it. But: WHAT IS THE MEANING OF "BOID" ? I
have asked many people already (even native Americans) but nobody could help
me. I am so anxious to find out what that comic means. Could somebody please
help me. Please mail an answer to either one of the following addresses since I
dont read this newsgroup:

Thanks a lot!!!

Bye,

Christian

As near as I can tell, a boid is a Brooklyn bird.

Cf. "My Cousin Vinnie" and the use of the word "Yewt."

"Boid" is how you say "bird" with a Brooklyn accent.

As in "I saw the boid on the thoid of the month"
