I remember seein' some ad
so I turned on my conelrad
but I didn't pay my Con Ed bill
so the radio didn't work so well...

Jeez, to paraphrase Jeff Foxworthy, "You might be a geezer if you
still remember CONELRAD." There are radios in *antique* stores that
have the little Civil Defense triangle marked at the 640 and 1240
spots on the AM dial -- which was pretty much the only dial that
mattered in those days.

Well, *that* was pretty depressing. Thanks for posting it, I guess.
I did get a laugh out of the crusading minister who claimed that
communist-sponsored "jungle beat" music was the inspiration behind
both the Watts riots and campus unrest of the 60s. I don't know if
it's a positive or a negative, but after visiting conelrad.com, at
least I know that the current crop of wing nuts didn't invent batshit
craziness.

I liked the piece about Janet Greene.

Jim Ellwanger <use...@ellwanger.tv>
<http://www.ellwanger.tv> welcomes you daily.
"The days turn into nights; at night, you hear the trains."
Today's panel mentions the six-year-old balloon boy. (Falcon Heene -- is that
an actual name?)
