So Mazetoons had the January 17th 2022 strip prepared in honor of what was to be Betty White's 100th birthday.

Sadly, we lost Betty White on New Year's Eve.

People magazine also had their next cover finished:

At least some of the 100th birthday celebrations are still going ahead
to mark her long career.

Also: Game show diginet BUZZR is planning for mid January 2022 a weekend marathon of Betty White game show appearance episodes (including Match Game, Password, To Tell The Truth, Make the Connection, What's My Line, I've Got a Secret, Tattletales, Trivia Trap, and Whew!). Now will a classic TV diginet like MeTV or Decades air a marathon of Betty White sitcoms like The Mary Tyler Moore Show or The Golden Girls or Hot in Cleveland. I wouldn't mind Golden Girls episodes streaming on Disney Plus.

Some magazines jump the gun to announce celebrity deaths. I'd like to
believe something more wholesome, but in all likelihood, when someone is
as popular as Betty White, they would get a better reader response to
prepare for and announce her birthday, rather than coming up with a
death story.

I used to binge watch old What's My Line episodes on Youtube... it was
always fun to see an episode with living actors and actresses. I
enjoyed the episodes with Betty White in them.

Presumably related to the poorly timed 1/17 Mazetoons (via Reed Brennan):

King Features Syndicate has issued a correction for MazeToons black and white for 1/17.

Correction: The caption below maze has been changed.

I assume they have now reflected Betty White's passing.

Add this Sunday's (1/9/2022) Parade magazine to the unfortunate timing list.

BTW I really want to see that "Betty White: A Celebration" movie in theaters next Monday but it's not playing in any theaters near me and I can't drive to any places where the movie is airing.

I often work national days, anniversaries and holidays into MazeToons. I am a huge fan of Betty White so naturally wanted to celebrate her 100th. Unfortunately she passed before making it to that milestone. However her life is of course still something worth celebrating. So rather than pull that day's maze and swap it out with something else I changed the image and tagline underneath. It's one of the unfortunate impacts of working two months out on a feature, we are not future proof. This is one of the reasons I never draw tornados in my mazes! I have a great fear of drawing a tornado or volcano etc.. and then two months later when it hits there is a natural disaster and it is seen as insensitive or cruel. At any rate I hope you will enjoy the replacement MazeToons this upcoming monday.
