Effective today on November 1, 2018, in an effort to reduce newsprint costs, the Chicago Sun-Times has dropped 12 daily comics, reduced its comics pages from 3 to 1, and moved several comics to the classified pages.

The dropped Sun-Times daily comics: One Big Happy, Pooch Cafe, Real Life Adventures, Bizarro, Grand Avenue, Red and Rover, Lio, DeFlocked, Sally Forth, The Duplex, Ziggy, and In The Bleachers.

Boy, am I glad Garfield is staying!

So what comics are staying in the comics pages and which get moved to Classifieds?

On the comics page:

Luann
Pearls Before Swine
Garfield
Jump Start
The Wizard of Id
Arlo and Janis

In the classified section:

Speed Bump
Love Is...
Curtis
Monty
Marmaduke
Dennis the Menace
Daddy's Home
Frank & Ernest

(Frank & Ernest had already been running in the classified section before
these changes.)

Are they spread randomly among the classifieds?

Or maybe paired and running across the top (or bottom)of the page?

Or maybe two columns of of four each?
(Those two panels creating difficulties.)

The comics on the classified pages appear in different pages.

If Garfield had gotten the boot in the Chicago Sun-Times, it would have been the 3rd. major city of the big 4 major cities to not carry Garfield in a newspaper (The others are New York City - The New York Post dropped Garfield in 2014 when the NY Post dropped its comics page, but you can still get access to Garfield via Long Island Newsday which also still carries Peanuts reruns and FBOFW reruns; and Los Angeles - Was it 2004-2005 the Los Angeles Times dropped Garfield? Does Los Angeles still have a second newspaper like the Los Angeles Daily News?). Be glad the major city of Washington D.C. - The Washington Post - still carries Garfield (and Peanuts reruns).

Actually, in September 2005 I vacationed in the San Diego, California area and saw a copy of the Los Angeles Times and there was no Garfield strip in it.
