GoComics.com is temporary down on the morning of November 19, 2022 as I noticed this: "The requested service is temporarily unavailable. It is either overloaded or under maintenance. Please try later."

It went down late last night, if not earlier. And the ucomics.com site
is also affected, it's not just the gocomics.com service that pulls from it.

Dave Van Domelen, wonders if ucomics was using any Twitter "bloat"
services to run things....

Or if it is in a Elon Musk Twitter takeover situation.

You can still see most of the comics that are on gocomics.com via ArcaMax.com

Relatively few of the 500 GoComics are available on Arcamax.

Note that the newspaper's that provide GoComics online are also down.

GoComics.com still isn't back up as we approach this evening, but according to someone on Twitter posting about the GoComics.com shutdown that may or may not be temporary: "They haven't said a word that I've seen about why it's down, which of course is very frustrating. My guess is they've been hacked and they're cleaning up the mess, but I've no evidence for that other than the unannounced outage."

It may not, there's your local newspaper.

And gocomics.com is still temporary down for the second day in a row. Maybe we may get the reason why from Andrews McMeel tomorrow on Monday.

And if you want to see the coming week's strips (a couple of them) that were on gocomics, check out the online Sunday Pittsburgh Post-Gazette newspaper via Press Reader.

And sandraandwoo.com. It seems to be spreading.

If my local newspaper's comics section had the comics I wanted to read,
I wouldn't be reading GoComics, though. (It has two, one of which they don't
run on Sunday at all, and the physical paper doesn't come out on Saturdays.
Gannett took it over last year and it now sucks badly, I stopped paying for
it back in October but still get it because they apparently fired everyone
who reads email or website feedback sections, and I'm not gonna mess with
their phone bank crap.)

Dave Van Domelen, hopes it doesn't come back up under a paywall.

UPDATE: GoComics posted on social media this Sunday evening: "We're sorry our systems are down! We're working hard to fix the issue. We will provide a status update when available. Thank you for your patience."

It's been long enough that I'd have to think it's a hacking situation,
likely ransonware.

While there are other sources for some of the comics, the big
difference is the lack of comments. You get used to interacting with
certain people about the various strips, kind of the way this newsgroup
was back in the day.

In a situation like this, you just redirect your site to a page
with a note and today's jpegs in alphabetical order like when a
store's computer is down and the manager comes out with a calculator
and a note pad to take care of everyone.

According to the Arizona Daily Star about the since Saturday, November 19, 2022 GoComics.com shutdown that may or may not be temporary if it doesn't come back online soon: "The digital service provider is currently experiencing technical difficulties and working to resolve the situation. According to the company, the extended outage is due to apparent cybersecurity issues, and their team is working around the clock to restore operations. The company cannot estimate exactly when full access to comics, puzzles and columns will be restored."

Is GoComics.com ever going to be back up by Thanksgiving or will it never come back at all? Is this the end for GoComics.com forever???

It was restored late Tuesday. It appears to be functioning normally, and
missed days seem to have been updated.
