Today's Family Circus has a silhouette of Thel's hair before she got it updated in the 1990s, and a station wagon, which might indicate this is recycled:

The caption was almost the same as the FC episode from April 25, 1975. It has Jeffy saying to Thel, "Look! The moon is turned on all the way!"

It's also obviously been screened.

Maybe they forgot to tweak the Thel hair for the recycled strip but replace Jeffy's silloutette with Dolly's sillouette.

I wonder what the upcoming recycled/retweaked Family Circus Summer vacation will be this year if there's one (Last year it was a reprise/redeux of the Disneyland vacation from 1978).

UPDATE: I checked that April 25, 1975 Family Circus strip, it's not the car in the dark cartoon, the original "Moon is turned on all the way" cartoon just featured Thel and Jeffy going into the house in the dark.

Maybe the car in the dark cartoon came from a past Family Circus strip with an old caption.

Today's FC is the same (except for Thel's hair) as the strip from August 1, 1979.

Today's strip is the same (except for Thel's hair) as the strip from August 4, 1979.

Boy, if the Cincinnati Post still was around, I would have called them and said, "The Family Circus has been reprinting strips." (In 1982, they issued an open letter to Ann Landers after her column was revealed to have been recycled.) Then again...

Speaking of, they're recycling the Summer storyline of Billy going off to Summer Camp which was also from 1979.

I wonder if there will be any changes to current times in the redeux 1979 Family Circus Billy goes to camp story arc.

There was a strip from the 1979 arc where the Keanes get a letter from Billy from camp. Dolly says, "Mommy? It's a letter from Billy, but it has 15 cents postage due. Do we want to pay it?"

It was 15 cents for a stamp in 1979.

The camp storyline ran for over three weeks, from August 6 to 27.
