Are we seeing another Batman Vs. Superman (theatrical version, ahem)
all over again?

The first batch of Suicide Squad reviews has hit Rotten Tomatoes -- and
they aren't that good.

Suicide Squad currently has 35% rating amongst the critics with 51
reviews accounted for. So that's only 18 that are considered "Fresh" /
favorable.

Honestly, I don't really pay too much attention to these reviews: After
all they gave the Ghostbusters reboot a whopping 73% positive rating.

They also gave Star Wars: The Force Awakens a 92% positive rating. Once
you get past the nostalgic factor that it's "Star Wars" (Phantom Menace
received glowing reviews at first), it's just an average-at-best movie
(we already seen it with New Hope). You're left shaking your head.

If you do happen to give these reviews credibility, Batman Vs. Superman
netted a 27% positive score, so at least Suicide Squad would be
considered slightly better.

Last I checked, Suicide Squad was on track to have an August near-
record-breaking-opening, with some estimates stating the movie may open
to around $145 million, so it doesn't seem all that bad.

"Suicide Squad" has an August 5, 2016 release date directed by David
Ayer starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot
Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as
Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller,
Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-
Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Scott Eastwood
in an unknown role.

Synopsis:

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous,
incarcerated Supervillains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal
at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat
an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda
Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate,
despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However,
once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their
patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad
resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

If it tanks they'll blame it on the PG-13 rating after all the hype that
has been out there about how "edgy" it was going to be, and leave it to
the unrated DVD cut that should come out just between Thanksgiving and
Christmas to redeem it. I'll probably just wait for that version myself,
as much as watching Margot Robbie be bad for a couple of hours appeals
to me.

The PG-13 edit apparently wasn't enough for China as the Chinese market
has decided not to allow the film's release there. As with DEADPOOL and
GHOSTBUSTERS, this constitutes the loss of a decent chunk of money.

How about that, you can't even trust an audience that is made in China.

There was never ever the slightest chance that Ghostbusters would be
allowed in China. They have absolute censorship against any depiction of
ghost, spirits, or undead creature.

Yes.

Check the Chonese box office for any ghost/undead movie and you will see
a big old 0. World War Z? $0. All the Twilight shitpiles? $0. Blizzard
had to release a special version of world of warcraft renaming the
undead and making them not look like corpses.

Really? I remember whole bunch of Chinese Zombie movies. You know, the
kind that hops around because their legs are stiff from rigor mortis.

Is it just the imports? There are so many chines ghost story movies
and tales, they are all Hong Kong?
