There's no doubt at all the book is late, and McFarlane already knows
that, so there's not much to debate on that issue. Given Image's
sterling track record on deadlines, people who cut up books and
sent in money certainly knew who they were dealing with.
Time might be better spent on serious issues like 30,000->150,000
and the re-creation of the Marvel system.

Boom. End of argument.
Thanks for the thought, though. And all future thoughts are welcome as well.

>Boom. End of argument.
But isn't the claim of taking steps to remedy it "old news" as well? When do
the fans start seeing results?

"Childbirth is NOT a miracle. Life is NOT sacred. When you have twenty
thousand nomads huddled between two rivers in the Middle East and that's it
for Homo sapiens, when one in five children is a live birth, one in ten
living past the age of ten, THEN childbirth IS a miracle and life IS sacred.
When the average age of a grandmother in Philadelphia's housing projects is
twenty-five, to call childbirth a miracle is at least a tasteless joke and at
worst a true obscenity."

I'm starting to think that PAD's best strategy might be to not try to win
anything ... perhaps even to go so far as to let Todd think he has won.
Why? Well, PAD is intelligent enough to give Todd some things to think
about, and hopefully to act upon, that will improve himself, his company
and comicdom for all of us.
I'm not going to agree with any of those magazines that rate him the #1
person in comics today, but he does have a substantial amount of power
as far as current creators go. If he can be made to stop this petty bickering
and sniping, and worrying about 'saving face', while still retaining his
ego, perhaps we can see some true greatness from him?
Also, while he isn't one of my favorite artists, he is a favorite of many,
and his art isn't BAD. Instead of constantly denigrating him, and trying
to get rid of him, we should really (we being people like PAD and comic fans
in general) try to help improve him. That won't happen by insulting him
(or his coworkers) as long as he prefers quick action to introspection...
Oh, i'm sure this is a ramble, but i think i've gotten my idea across.
'Winning' isn't everything. Especially for Peter, as he doesn't *need* to
win.

I know this is completely offthe subject(s), but that quote is the one thing
I've been looking for to settle a violent argument. I can't thank you enough
for bringing that forward.
Thanos {:-(
You're right about the 'winning' part. How can someone 'win' a debate like
this ? What does Todd want with this debate BTW ? this is still unclear to
me. This debate will probably be a great waste of time for Peter and Todd IMHO.
You want us to help Todd ? Well, maybe we should start by asking him some
basic respect. Lots of people are screaming 'give Todd some basic respect!', but
he hasn't been giving us (the comic buyers) any respect at all. I can't remember
hearing Todd say 'My comics sell well because of the comic buyers. Thank you
guys!'. I've only heard him raving about hoe *GOOD* he is, and that Image
can do anything they want because the fans wil buy it anyway. I feel pretty
insulted by this statement, and glad I'm not buying Spawn anymore (I'm not
buying anything from the Image-six anymore, until they start showing us some
respect !). The only way to help Todd is to *STOP* buying his comic, so that
he realizes how wrong his attitude is.
Michel.

I guess its Todd that doesn't like big butts!
(Which is actually a shame. Larry was one of the few artists
that drew Black women to proportions that I liked!)

I appreciate the thought and help. However, if I cite specific Image
lateness or nonshipment, Todd will simply respond, "Yeah, we've had a
problem with that, but we're trying to improve it." End of argument.
PAD
Also, Todd, in his infinite coolness, has gone into negotiations concerning
a Spawn toy line. While this is all well and good, consider that there will
be an IMAGE toy line released next year. I guess he's too good now for even
the guys he works with. At least Jim Lee (whose WildCATS could be a monster
hit toy line, if done right) and Marc Silvestri (ditto for Cyberforce) have
enough class to stand in line with the people they've chosen to put their lot
in with when Image is facing cutbacks and a total loss of consumer confidence.
Todd's off on some Ego trip and doesn't even have the time or desire to make
it look like there's some kind of unity.

I'd certianly like to consider a line of Cyberforce toys (as long as
Cyblade isn't the Invisible Woman of the lot), but haven't heard
anything about this.
Can anyone give me more details? Who's going to do them? I hope it's
a decent company that will do a good job.
Scott
He's been defending himself with that statement since Image
began. I think there must be a statute of limitations on such a chronic
problem.
Also, check out his response to Image #0's lateness in an
interview that someone was gracious enough to post a while back.
Todd's response when asked about it was "You didn't think it was going
to be on time, did you?" With an attitude like that, I believe
anything Image says it's doing to correct its lateness is nothing
more than a smokescreen to shut their critics up for the short-term.
Unfortunately, Image's short-term is a long-term proposition for their
fans.
Lance
What's he supposed to say?
Besides, I think he's basically right when he says that. If you were to ask
me that question, _I_ would certainly respond with something like the above.
Does Todd really have that much more ability to make books (other than Spawn)
come out on time than you or I do?

I hope this isn't true. Image isn't for kids.

BLOODSTRIKE action figures!

<Naah, more than likely it'll be just like the X-Force toys. By the
time they hit stores, all the costumes will be different and half the
people will be dead.>

Just out of interest, what happens if you say, after this happens a
certain number of times, that you simply won't write for that company
any more?
