JGC> What's this "YMCA bathroom fantasy" experience of his?

...as I recall the story, Jim was either sexually harassed and/or sexually
assaulted by three or four agressive homosexual males while he was showering
at the YMCA he attended at the time. Regardless of genders involved, this
sort of incedent does indeed cause traumatic responses, and no doubt Jim
was forever biased against homosexuals regardless of how nice or not-so-nice
they were.

...Jim Drew might have the dates on this one, but did this occur prior to
that little incedent where Bruce Banner "Hulked Out" to avoid getting gang
raped in a prison shower? Who wrote that issue to begin with, anyway?

...In any case, whether Shooter was raped by so-called "Queer Nation" types
is irrelevant in my book. I'd rather see him consigned to a fate far worse
than that - a return to his reportedly aborted career as a manager of a
Kentucky Fried Chicken stand! :-) :-) :-)

Side nOTE: come to think of it, if Jim was so against homosexuality, how did
someone like Ken Clarkson manage to appear as Aric's sidekick? Or how did
Elzy wind up being bisexual??

<Shooter wrote an issue of Hulk where Bruce Banner was nearly raped
by a (horribly stereotyped) gay man in a YMCA. The story of his own
rape only came to light AFTER this issue, as Shooter attempted to defend
against the criticism by saying that the story was based on truth.
Whether it's true or not, only Jim knows.>

<JIm was not raped, according to Amazing Heroes. I wish I remembered
what issue.>

<Perhaps because of his previous story's controversiality? Or maybe he
just changed his opinion in the ensuing years? Or maybe the characters
sexuality made for a good story. I don't happen to like the KKK, but
I once had a superhero whose secret identity was an ex-member, for the
dramatic tension involved.>

I don't think Ken is meant to be looked on as a sympathetic character,
especially the way he was written in the early issues where he spent
all his time hot for Aric's bod.

If it was Andy Magels' "Gays in Comics, part I" article, it's
#143. I've only ever been able to find part II, myself.
