The Lou. Courier Journal contained a story that suggested that, according
to recollections by his family members, Loren had met a fellow who
apparently met Cunanan's description, and reportedly was "quite taken" by
him, shortly before his death.
Apparently we can't be 100% sure at this point that Cunanan murdered him,
but that seems to be the best lead.

Jeezus... I hadn't even heard that he was dead! It's been
awhile since I'd picked any Revolutionary books up. Was there
any coverage on this in the trades?

Yes. Todd's death was covered in CBG at the time, and I
suspect elsewhere as well.
It sounds like bullshit to me. Whenever they bring down/capture a serial
killer the cops always rush in to try and empty their "unsolved" files.
Remember Henry Lee Lucas? As it is, Cunanan appears to be more what used
to be called "Mad Dog Killers" (guys who snap and go off on killing
sprees, like Starkweather),and not the Dahmer/Bundy/Gacey style of
serial killer. It's cruel to trick families into thinking that their
loved one's killer has been brought to justice in such a manner, but I
also understand the need for closure, too.

TCJ covered his murder at the time, IIRC.
Well I know I read about it extensively in The Comics Journal.

Why would it be bullshit to re-examine evidence from
a long-forgotten case when the victim of the case and
the killer in another case came from the same community?
If you were part of Loren's family, wouldn't you want the
investigators to analyze the evidence in both cases for
any and all possible links?
Considering Cunanan's MO and the community he
originated from (the San Diego gay community, same
as Loren), I'd say that it's more than worth a shot to
compare evidence between the cases as it could help
to figure out whether Cunanan was a "Mad Dog" Killer
who just snapped or whether he was actually a
classic serial killer.
