And getting back to the "cousins", why is Peter making such a big deal that
he's attracted to them? Do people even call the nieces of their "aunt by
marriage" cousins? They are not biologically related to him at all, and it's
not like they grew up together and have a familial relationship.

I've seen people react like this. A friend of mine was dating a lovely
girl, and ... I forget exactly, but his dad married her aunt or
something, which made her a distant cousin-in-law, and they were so
freaked out about it they broke up. :\ I mean, if his Dad had married
her Mom, maybe. But a cousin-in-law? So, yes, it does happen.

Stargate Universe SGU: It puts the "U" in "SUCKS"!
It's the show 'Defiling Gravity' would be if DG had more regulars,
fewer abortions, worse writers, and no budget for lighting.
Remember, you can't spell "disgust" without SGU!

Because Marvel is obssessed with making Pete miserable and
pathetic...the "roomate from hell" contributes to that.

Same reason as the "roomate from hell"...Marvel wants him miserable
and pathetic...and guilt over naughty feelings for his newly retconned
cousins contributes to that.

Yeah I get that...but
1) couldn't they have a gag scene somewhere where Luke Cage feels a little
uncomfortable with Peter living in the same house with Jessica Jones?
According to the New Avengers, he's a little jealous of Peter. It's just as
silly, but at least it would be some kind of explanation.
2) wouldn't it fit Peter better to have hot "cousins" but they are not
interested in him at all? He's got beautiful women staying at his Aunt's
house and they just don't see him as someone they want sexually. Friendly,
sure, but no attraction. That sounds more like "Parker luck" to me than
worrying about a non-existent incest taboo.

That would require a level of coordination between New Avengers and
Amazing that simply doesn't exist...for the most part, they might as
well be in seperate universes.

I don't find it particularly interesting either way...but, as it is,
they have it both ways...imagined incest taboo AND they've shown no
interest in him...plus, Peter has already got about 10 different
possible love interests floating around the book (not that he's
managed to get anywhere with any but the roomate and Felicia) so he
really doesn't need any more.
