This must've been brought up a Million Times, but I'm new to this
newsgroup, SOOO..

I haven't bought Marvel comics in at least 20 years, and checking
out the more recent stuff is pretty fascinating. The Extreme Changes!

I guess I'll always like the artwork I grew up with when I was a
kid the best, as will most people. The artwork of the late
60's-into-the-70's that I watched was simple and maybe more "literal", not
experimenting too much with conceptual frame ideas and pretty basic bodies
and faces.

The New Stuff just doesn't catch me. It seems harder to follow
the storyline and get a good feel for the character. Very surreal, and I
applaud artists' for their inventiveness, but not when it hurts the story.

On the other hand..

I looked back on some old stuff I had the other day, and some of
that 'literalness' goes a long way. Not much room for flexibility or
creativity, I guess, especially in a Hulk meets The Wendigo & The
Wolverine (his 1st, i guess!).

I was a big Spiderman & Hulk fan. Spidey now has 2 different
outfits and about 20 different mags! His eyes seem to be
chaicaturistically (??!!) Huge! His body goes in and out of proportion,
too. Old Spidey was easier to relate to cuz you felt you were watching
what something would Really look like as it happened.

The Hulk, as far as I know, has changed color and 'intelligences' a number
of times! My Hulk was just Big, Strong, Dumb, Well-meaning but dangerously
Angry.

Geez, I'm rambling..

Anyway, have at these opinions. They're just That.

I am 33 & I have just started to read the mags again.
The last time I read them was when I was 14-15.

The art work is definately more WILD I think is the word
I love his big eyes, but he needs to change that fat spider on his back to
something like the new one on the front.

Has anyone seen the Horizon models of marvel heros.

I have spidey - wolverine - cyclops & have hulk & venom on order
they are bwutifully detailed & well worth the discount price
of 20 pounds
