I really love Loeb and Sale's work on Batman: Long Halloween and Dark
Victory and Superman for All Seasons. They seem to have the characters'
personalities down to where it is so refreshing for old and new fans to see.

But I find their work in Daredevil Yellow and a little preview of Spiderman
Blue to be bland and perhaps redundant. I guess the retelling of classic
stories is fine, but I 'm not sure if Loeb and Sale actually drew or wrote a
series that makes me feel awe of the characters. Perhaps it is Sale's art.
He is awesome drawing "big" characters. Or maybe it is Loeb. His work in
Marvel isn't that memorable.

Comments?

My comments is that L&S's stories are very slim. Half the pages are giant
pint-ups (often double-page spread) that don't move the story along. I fave
Daredevil: Green (bucks) a try after staying away from L&S for years and still
feel that I got burned. Tim also need to work on his artwork. His faces are
ridiculous and his anatomy inaccurate.

I take onboard what you have to say; but to some extent I disagree;
particularly in relation to the comments on Sale's artwork. IMHO, it's just
his personal style and it makes his art distinctive and I actually do like
the way it looks. Sometimes the more anatomically accurant pieces can get a
little tiresome and samey as it is the style which has (and probably always
will) dominate the market. On occasion, the more extravagant, abstract,
flamboyant or just plain fun art can be great to look at, not to mention an
energising experience. Then again, I would say this as I'm a fan of Sam
Keith, Ashley Wood and Dan Brereton's work; all of whom have very
distinctive and impressionable styles which I thoroughly enjoy. However,
after reading The Long Halloween and Dark Victory I would agree slightly
with your views on the content; although I enjoyed Daredevil: Yellow very
much and will be buying Spider-Man: Blue, I did feel that the story was a
tad thin. I'm not too sure whether it was due to being constrained by a
flashback story or that merely a more visual tale was intended; I'm not the
creator so I wouldn't purport to know what he thought. Plus, sometimes I
think it can be a tad bit unfair to keep comparing someone's current work to
something they did in the past as people's style changes and sometimes they
just want to experiment a little and try something new (I think most
creative types, especially writers, can empathise with that).

Well, thanks for listening (hope it makes sense!),

Loeb is the laziest scriptor in comics. The guy really believes a picture is
worth a thousand words, but sadly, his comics aren't worth the cover price. It
might as well be nuff said every month.
